That's freaking awesome. I love it when the community can show these new players how much the Blazers mean to Portland. Kudos to anyone who was able to make the trip out to PDX to greet him.

Rudy with a great line!

About playing against Kobe and other NBA stars when they played in the Olympics:

"My first thought was respect. My second thought was ... I'm gonna kick their ass."

I loved this! I think people were looking at me weird as I was doing this :ghoti:

Wow. They just reported 2500 online listens to the 95.5 stream.

Productivity in Portland offices just dropped a bit over the last 30 minutes.

They must have capped out their streaming abilities because I couldn't get live streaming to work.

Yeah - I had to keep refreshing before I got in. Took me a while but I made it in.

"I can dunk howard in the face" - Rudy

Something tells me that Dwight is going to try to return the favor sometime in the next few years. That being said, it was a real highlight of the Olympics for me.:pimp:

I just watched this on the news. Rudy turned to the interpreter and told him what he wanted to say. I loved that first respect and then I'm going to kick their ass. You have to love Rudy.

I really hope that he comes in and stands behind is "ass kicking" remarks.

He definitely has a different swagger to him than most euros.

I was there at the airport today, and the scene was insane. I was proud of my fellow Blazers fans for skipping school, taking an early lunch and doing whatever else they could to welcome Rudy to PDX. It was a great time!

Very cool you were there. I got a sense of the size of the crowd but were they orderly and subdued, loud, out of control?

I didn't see a thread welcoming you to the site. You have been a long time poster at BBF, alwys good to have another loyal Blazer fan posting here.

Thanks very much for the welcome. I posted in the thread about migrating from BBF. With all the best discussion happening over here now, it was really no contest.

The crowd was really orderly. Security had to ask people to stand behind the barrier on a few occasions shortly before Fernandez walked out, but that was pretty normal.

One of the funniest things came as people were getting off the plane before Rudy. As airline employees and passengers walked out to the baggage claim area, a lot of the fans would shout "Welcome to Portland!," clap and scream, as if the welcome reception was for them. Most of the people who walked by were surprised but had a great sense of humor about it.

Then when Rudy actually came out, several "RU-DY! RU-DY!" chants started up, and as he walked away, people began chanting "Beat L.A.! Beat L.A.!" That's a rivalry right there.

I was telling my friend (he was the one with the "Bienvenido Rudy!" sign) how funny it was that 200+ people showed up to greet someone who would essentially be a sixth or seventh man this season. I think it just goes to show why Portland has the best fans in the league.

haha awesome with the Beat LA chant :) what a great way to welcome him to the team and the city!

I didnt see him sportin' any turtleneck in any of the pictures.

(uncomfortable silence) Um, yeah...it's not the kind of turtleneck made of cloth...(more uncomfortable silence)

I dont get it.

Remember the scene in Robin Hood: Men In Tights where Mel Brooks was telling the guys about that new technique, and showed them the carrot? Yeah, Rudy didn't have that done.
