I've suspected this for some time.
Now they are admitting it.
Like Batum, he was allowed to play with this injury and it has gotten worse.

Fernandez was being evaluated for the second time since Friday for his ailing back, which is related to sciatic pain. His agent, Gerard Darnes, said the back problems stem from last season's fall after being fouled by Trevor Ariza in a game against the Lakers. Darnes said the back was aggravated in practice last week when Fernandez was elbowed while running a pick-and-roll. The team did not disclose information from either of his doctor's appointments ...

Boy, Quick's whininess never ceases to amaze. I like the "pseudo-comeback" comment, and the "The team did not disclose information from either of his doctor's appointments" comment, like it's evidence of a sinister cabal. What a dipshit.

Anyone who's had back problems knows they come and go. Rudy needs to swim more and he'll probably be fine.

Oh: and can we make it a forum rule that if you're quoting from an article by ANY of the following, that you have to make that clear in advance?

Quick, Canzano, Jaynes, Wojo-whatsisname (the Yahoo yahoo).

That way those of us with sanities still somewhat intact don't have to put them at risk.

That is fucking ridiculous. You can have a hardon for Quick if you want, that is your business. But he is the Oregonian reporter assigned to the team....and often their designated mouthpiece. As such, he is going to be quoted here and elsewhere. Get used to it.

Good, negative article by Quick, offsetting the usual sugarcoated excuses from Doughboy Aldridge.

NEW YORK -- Whether it was optimism or denial, the Trail Blazers on Monday refused to accept their 93-84 loss to the New York Knicks.

Using injuries and absences as a crutch, and their still-decent 13-9 record as makeup, the Blazers coolly discarded a game in which they were blown out by a 7-15 team.

"I'm going to take this game with a grain of salt," said LaMarcus Aldridge, who had 19 points and 13 rebounds. "It was our first game without Greg (Oden) and our first game without Nate (McMillan), so there were a lot of firsts."

Also, he pads his stats after the game has been decided.
