Ryan Villopoto raced to his first AMA Motocross victory of the year, winning the first moto and finishing second in the second Saturday at High Point Raceway.
Villopoto, the Monster Energy Kawasaki rider from Poulsbo, Wash., beat Suzuki's Ryan Dungey by more than 8 seconds in the first 450 Class moto. After a rain shower, Australia's Chad Reed, the championship points leader and winner of the previous two rounds, took the second moto.
"It's nice to get my first win in a long time," said Villopoto, who's only previous victory in the class came in his 450 division debut in 2009. "I didn't feel good at Hangtown, but I felt good at Texas -- I just didn't have it. We had a weekend off and the team did a lot of testing.
