My wife was shopping in Safeway yesterday when she spotted this [ . This is from the Safeway on Ivanhoe near the Saint Johns Bridge. The meat was packed on the 29th of may and instead of taking it off the shelf when the sell by date they just put a new label on this. I'm not sure how legal this is but regardless it seems sketchy as fuck.
We'v bought Chicken and ground meat from them recently that smelled and was slimy a day after we bought it so we have had concerns about there meat even before this video was taken.
Edit - while I figure out how to post a video thats not on FB

You wanna become a local star? Call the local news and tell them and they will meet you there and film it. That's absolutely violating FDA regulations.

This. Go to KGW or something and go to their investigative branch about this. Absolutely unhealthy and unethical. And, while I'm no expert on FDA/USDA laws, it's probably highly illegal as well.

I'm pretty sure even Walmart doesn't allow dogs.
Ours does. I saw a white trash chick walk her little rat in, and it fricken pissed on the floor, right in the main walkway. She just stood there watching it, and then walked off. Scummy, disrespectful, worthless human being....

On the other side, I have to admit that our Safeway does carry excellent meat/poultry. There is an area for stuff that is expiring at a discount too. Like everyone else said, I'd turn that one in. Probably poor management....

Lolz that's because he's a dumb dog. He needs to be stealthy like me.

Haven't the laws regarding meat importation and labeling been drastically changed in the last few years? I know that importers have been on the FDA for years to loosen restrictions.

I don't think we are importing meat. Not a long shelf life. Meat, like Dairy is somewhat a regional thing. Yeah you might be able to buy some Nebraska steaks on the West Coast but by and large I'm pretty sure what you see in Safeway is regionally grown.

I would hope not. It seems like a huge problem given the different standards in feeding and sanitation condition in other countries. Although it would be interesting to see where other companies got their goods.

I thought there was a big beef deal where Canada, us and Mexico were arguing about labeling beef?

I like when places like Winco post that there meat (even if it isn't the greatest) is all raised in the USA unless otherwise labeled.

I want labels with everything one could possibly ask for. I rarely buy anything that says "distributed by" and gives no origin.
