Sam has long been a fave of mine, not just because his face without makeup looks like a clown, or because of his "giant testicles" dance
...but because everywhere he's gone has improved the moment he arrived (notably the sad-sack Wolves and Clippers franchises). I attribute it to his excellent joie de vivre, esprit de corps and encoulez-vous attitude. But where is he now? Waived by the Kings, that's where. And as I understand it, he would be eligible to appear on a playoff roster if signed, because he was waived before the Joe Smith/Drew Gooden deadline.
Why hasn't some team picked him up? Do they assume that he's done? Is he done? Do they think that he's just going straight back to the Celtics (but why did they sign Marbury then? Because Sam's going to be an assistant coach?)
I would love to see the team sign him. He could actually get minutes here, and on a good team. And I don't think it would seriously stunt the progress of Bayless or Sergio, because they're not getting minutes anyway (or doing so badly that that performance is doing worse for their long-term confidence than not playing would). Of course, we'd have to let someone go, but really, Michael Ruffin needs to be home with his pets.
Anyone heard anything to the effect that he's already set on somewhere so isn't an option?
