Something about your pics... they always look kinda blurry, subtext is really hard to read on the Holmes ones, backgrounds are pretty bare on all of them. For the Holmes jersey switch, try to get a little NFL sheild on the jersey and maybe the Steelers logo on it too.

It's the effects used... I'll just stick to the dupe + overlay. with those i did a lot of blur effects, so thats probably why. i dunno what to do with my bgs though. some say i overbrush, then i dont brush enough. dunno what to do...

Find a tutorial for making different sorts of backgrounds cuz yours are way to plain and monotone.
