I was down at practice today and I got audio from Chip and a video of LaMichael James talking about Lache and also the progress the team is making. Here is what happened with Lache the last few days.

By all accounts, Lache is a good guy and a good football player he just didn't seem to get it here. I have the audio from Chip a little down the page. Chip said Lache was homesick and wanted to be closer to his Grandma who raised him. Chip gave Lache last night off, as well as the early practice this morning. They talked after the first practice, Lache said he wanted to transfer, and Chip said OK. Chip says it was about family for Lache, but I'm sure seeing his playing time diminish as fall camp progressed didn't make him miss home any less.

You can check out the report here with the audio and video

Also these were my two observations about a couple of true freshman

De'Anthony Thomas will be a playmaker this year! Don't be surprised to see him fielding punts and kickoffs. Also he was running with the threes today and I don't see him getting knocked off that spot.

Colt Lyerla needs to step up big this year. I know he's a true freshman, but injuries have put him right into the fire. I think he has the physical tools, but I saw a lot of routes being run at less than full speed because it seemed he was tired. Oregon's pace is hard to get used to, but Colt needs to get acclimated quickly because something tells me, less than full speed on a block for James or Barner is not going to sit well with Kelly.

I'd still rather see Colt at LB.

maybe next season or something, but no way no how this season now. we have David Paulson who is great, but Williams retired, Curtis White is on crutches (still with no confirmation on what it is) that leaves Lyerla and I assume walk ons as our TE's right now and probably for a while.

I'd like to see it.

I'd love Lyerla's athleticism on defense too dont get me wrong. But I'm also imagining him as a red zone weapon and salivating.

I agree with Wheels on this one. We have depth at LB as is and TE is a question for us right now.

I hear what you guys are saying, but I would love to see a guy like Brian Urlacher on our defense, and I think Colt could be that guy.

Teague played last year and for some reason big time recruit Christian French repeatedly escapes your memory.

I'm pretty excited about the 5 stud LBs they signed last year. I'm hearing they're impressing thus far... Kaddu was laying the praise on Wallace especially

Oh I remember French, I couldnt forget one of your favorites! :) I just for some reason mentally already have him slotted as a hybrid DE/LB with his speed. Not sure why, maybe its that clip you showed of him chasing that dude down from the UA Bowl Game

also I read rumblings that White has a Ruptured Achilles :( poor guy cant stay healthy.
