Wow, Tex finally hit the ball where it was thrown without trying to hook and pull it, what got into him? (hitting the ball where its pitched?) Finally....
 
A much needed injection of some fresh young blood. Nice lead off double by Murphy. Lets hope we can capitalize on it.
 
A triple by Ellsbury & we're back in front 2-1. C'mon Jeter an easy RBI situation.

Prado 3-3 & Murphy 2-2 Yankees up 6-1 in the 6th.
 
Prado is a solid little player. Plus, somebody needs to tell me why Cervelli got playing time over Murphy. That being said guys like Prado and Headley compliment a lineup. If Beltran and Tex did their job instead of sucking this season would've been a lot different.

I'll be looking forward to see what kind of numbers Prado could give us on a full season.
 
I remember early in the season there was a rumor going that Cervelli might be traded to the White Sox for Beckham. That would have left McCann as prime to mentor John Ryan Murphy and I thought that was cool. Things did not turn out like that but I'm glad to see Murphy back up, I've liked him since day one. Now give Jeter a nice day tomorrow by whacking Kansas City so they can go deal with the Tigers in their head to head games.

Cervelli got bobble hands and does not block the plate and does not know how to put a tag on. Let Murphy backup and trade bobble hands.
 
...^^^ are you even aware that there are now rules about "blocking the plate"?

...look, I really like Murphy too, but the question was asked why Cervelli got playing time over Murphy...I produced stats to perhaps explain why...and going by this year's numbers, Cervelli not only has the edge in hitting, he's also the better defensive catcher.
 
I'd have to agree that Cervelli gets a nod performance wise and he is an exuberant team member I like to see those young guys get a chance. Murphy will improve with time.
 
I like Cervelli's heart & enthusiasm but yeah Murphy looks like he's got a future. You just know that one of these kids is going to be used as trade bait. And remember, we still have Sanchez.
 
...the fact that Murphy was also having perhaps his worst year in the minors did not help his cause either.
