These days I don't really get scared by any movies, but I remember being spooked the first time I watched the Exorcist.

Arachnaphobia and Childsplay also stand out, because I was around 6 years old when I watched them. Now they're just funny.

Yea I remember getting scared by the Excorist...when she turned her head all the way around...that was creepy. I was like 9 years old. Another scary movie is Hostel. It's not a movie that will make you scream...but the torturing scenes are pretty creepy. Makes you wonder if sickos actually do that.

These days, I personally find gore movies like hostel and the saw series pretty fun movies to watch. Those movies make me cringe at some of the scenes. But one movie that scared me as a kid was the excorist (one scene that i distinctly remember was when the girl walks down the stairs upside down really quickly) and phantasm. Of course i watched those movies 8-9 years ago.

the excorist scared me to death. i was like 11 and we rented this one night and i was scared to death. also, the 6th sense isnt really that scary, but that one part when the mom was at the sink scared me as well.

PS: saw owns hostel, unless you like your movies to be half porno like BKS

Saw was a better movie, but Hostel had the better torturing scenes.

Yea, the backwards spidercrawl down the stairs is like one of the freakiest scenes I've ever seen. It comes out of nowhere.

Now I'm beginning to remember some more movies. The Shining (those freakyass girls!), Pet Sematary, A Nightmare on Elm Street (the first one), Halloween (that piano music), The Omen (they might make a remake), and Rosemary's Baby.

It was easily the original exorcist. I hate religious horror movies! They freak me out!

that movie IT was pretty freaky too as a kid. That clown game me nightmares. I hate clowns!

I have to say i first saw exorcist when i was bout 7 it gave me nightmares for a week. It still kinda creepy but not scary, same thing with chuckie when i was a kid it scared me now i laugh at it and cant believe it scared me.

Nightmare on Elm Street series was creepy when I first watched them...I was like 11 and I watched them at midnight.

Nosferatu was truly scary.

I tend to find Japanese horror movies the scariest. Ju-On: The Grudge, and the Japanese version of The Ring freaked the f**k out of me.

The Grudge scared the **** out of me, I'm dead serious. I had surround sound on pretty loud at like midnight. Thunder storm outside, wind blowing hella hard, by myself. Everytime you saw that girl thing coming, the thunder would shake the house. Then at the very end when it was over my power went out

Then I had stairs like in the house of that movie, and I was walking up the stairs in pitch black with my parrot making the moaning sound

I heard that movie was scarier and better than the American Grudge. I wanna see it, but just can't seem to get my hands on it yet. Isn't there also a Ju-On 2.

Yeah, I've seen that as well. There was supposedly a 3 that was out last year, but I haven't seen it.

As for where you can get it, try your local Asian mall or Chinatown. There are usually those selling pirated DVDs from Asia which have English subtitles.

Jacob's Ladder is pretty creepy. Event horizon is also a good one.

Damn the Exocist was boring, but that scene with the stairs did scare me. The movie was going so slowly, I was all bored, and that happened so quickly. I get pretty scared watching horror movies. I believe Jeepers Creepers and Texas Chainsaw Massarce scared me the most.

I liked Saw some of my favorite movies where Final Destination, Nightmare of Elm Street, Chuckie (yeah the little doll **** scary as hell), and the Shining. They didn't scare me, but where fun to watch.

Wolf Creek was a monumental disappointment. Just rented it the other day.

Anybody got a review of The Omen?

The exorcist never really scared me but scream gave me nightmares (when i was like 10) and 28 days later was dope. I thought that movie was so sweet and scary because it felt like it could really happen.

Fallen with Denzel Washington. I was 12 at the time. Kept me up all night after watching the movie.

Madman Marz. Not really a mainstreamer, but a good movie.

here's a review written from IMDB about it..
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"The Omen" is one of those movies that still hold up so well, there's really no need to remake them. The date of June 6th 2006 was probably the most tempting thing for producers to release a new version of this film now.

Well, you can't say they did a bad job. This year's "The Omen" is solid as a rock and very faithful to the original. So faithful in fact, that one has to wonder what the whole point of it is.

Liev Schreiber and Julia Stiles are an odd choice for the leading couple but they're both okay in their respective roles. The direction is just okay, too, but you gotta be thankful that no cheap scares (or not too many of them) were thrown in to keep viewers interested. On the other hand, it must be said that the movie is a bit slow at the beginning, especially if you already know the plot. Opinions will differ on how well recent events such as 9/11, the tsunami in Sri Lanka or the death of Pope John Paul II. were integrated into the story, but that's not really a major issue. The few changes John Moore made involve a different way of dying for one character and two or three rather effective dream sequences (the last one sticks out - it's a sequence of really creepy images without any sound effects at all, probably my favorite moment of the whole movie). Also watch out for a nice reference to "Don't Look Now".

The most interesting thing, however, is the complete absence of the infamous choral score that made the original so scary. God knows why it's not here, it sure wouldn't have seem dated.

If I realized anything watching this movie it's how amazing the script was in the first place. It builds up perfectly, it's thrilling as hell (excuse the pun) and there are no plot holes to be found. This is why "The Omen" still works greatly and will hopefully enjoy a lot of young people who haven't seen the original. For everyone else there's no reason to spend money on a movie we have already seen in a superior version.</div>
