Semi OT nice laugh in the form of a butthurt Jazz fan

Yeah, true, but at one point the guy guarantees that 29 out of 30 coaches would take Deron over Roy, one day after the coaches voted Roy in the ASG, not Deron.

When you open your argument like this, no one could possibly take you serious. And I stopped reading at this point:

"I really can’t believe that D-Will has never been an All-Star. I admit that I am an overly biased Deron freak, but really? I mean I understand that Brandon Roy came out of the gates strong last year, and that Portland had that whole winning streak and everything, but Deron is Deron. I really feel bad for the guy because he is such a competitor."

Deron is a really good player... but he is in a conference with Chris Paul, Tony Parker, and Chauncey Billups. How many point guards does an All-Star team need?

they play 2 diff positions so its hard to compare but most GM's take deron, IMO. but that doesnt mean he should get in over roy. roy>>>deron this season

"Deron is Deron." Classic. In other words, "I can't really defend my pick, but everyone knows Deron is the best!"

Deron Williams is good, but he's been borderline All-Star good, not superstar good. The travesty is not him being behind Roy but all the talk of him being in Chris Paul's league. He's not, not remotely. For "draft class rivals," Melo is closer to LeBron (which isn't very close) then Deron is to Paul.

Deron's PER: 20.8 last year, 18.7 this year
Roy's PER: 19.4 last year, 24.4 this year

Deron and Roy were very even last year. This year, it's not even close. Roy is much better.

And, just for fun, Paul's PER: 28.3 last year, 29.9 this year.

If Roy got in ahead of Chris Paul, I'm fine with a befuddled New Orleans fan saying "But Paul is Paul!"

Paul is in a league all his own. The guy is a quadruple-double threat. How many players can you think of who can boast that? Deron Williams HAD the advantage of playing on a really good team, with a really good coach, but now that his team is facing injuries they aren't even in the top 8.... what does that say?

My new favorite argument for 2009 is definitely going to be "but x is x" - it's friggin priceless. I can't stop laughing about it.

At least the Jazz fans in the comments seem to be tearing him apart, note the many Blazer fans too lol.

wow that guy is an idiot. Read some of his replies too. Good god.

What a well written, insightful blog.

He managed to argue that one player is better than another, without posting a single stat to back himself up.

C'mon. Deron IS a better player than Roy and that's really not debatable. That doesn't mean Roy isn't more deserving of an All-Star berth, because he is. Same thing happened last year.

Uh oh... You have no idea how wrong you are on that one... :devilwink:

Not debatable huh? :biglaugh:

nice try at getting everybody worked up though.

It's entirely the opposite. Roy is on a completely different statistical level than Williams.

Yes. And to clarify: a better statistical level.

Ed O.

Yah, maybe Roy Tarpley.

I guarantee you that if you took a vote around the league as to which center ( Deron Williams or Greg Oden) a coach would rather start a team around, it would be 29-1 in favor of Oden (Utah's not going to pick Oden, even though deep down they know the truth)

:D

I would definitely not pick Deron Williams as my center.

Yes, but you're a bit biased.

Either against non-Trail Blazers or against 6'3'' centers. Or both.

Did I not call this 3 days ago. LOL. I knew Jazz fans would have a melt down over Deron not making it. Deron is a great player. He has started out slow this year with his injury and there fore did not deserve to make it.

One thing the guy was right about and that's he will take it personal. He usually owns Chris Paul in head to head match ups because of his competitive nature. The Blazers need to double him tomorrow and shut him down.

This game is worth two games. We need to split with them on the tie breaker. Blake needs to be ready to help just in case of foul trouble. Other than Harpring the Jazz are soft this year., but they can score. We need to pull out all the stops and win this one.

Deron is Deron. lol. Hilarious... I can't wait to hear this argument over and over on this forum.
