Sheff traded to Tigers

Yeah, I just heard. Humberto Sanchez is a pretty good pitching prospect. Between, Wang, Hughes, and Sanchez, they could have 3 good young starters for years to come. 2 yr extension as part of the trade.

But the guy is going to be 38 and doesn't have that much left in the tank. Theres only so many more seasons of .300/30/100 he can put up.I just think it was foolish of Detroit to give up a Good Young Pitching Prospect like Sanchez for the aging veteran who has those 3 years max. Sounds more like a desperation move to make a big splash yet Free Agency hasnt even opened yet.

I'm glad my Yankees got rid of Sheff.Yes it eliminates some depth, but I'll take Abreu over Sheff any day.It gives them some young talent that hasn't been seen in a while.

So lets see... the Yankees got 2 of the Tigers' top 3 Pitching prospects (including their number 1) as well as another young arm for an aging, overpaid outfielder who was leaving no matter what?How can you not like the trade? Not even close.The Best Pitcher in their Farm System Right now was probably Sanchez. Although id say in the Long-Run, Left-Handed Andruw Miller is by far the one who will likely have the Brightest Future, only problem is he is still very raw and needs some time to develop his stuff which is why I would rank Sanchez before him right now. After him though comes a whole assortment of pitchers like Jordan Tata, Will Ledezma, and probably even Kyle Sleeth are better pitchers then Whelan. He would come after all of them. Whelan is basically a One Pitch Pitcher who right now can dominate A-ball hitters, but would get killed in the Higher Levels of the Minor Leagues. He does have a developing Splitter, but has future reliever all over him. The main chip in this deal is Sanchez. Whelan will probably make the major leagues in 2-3 years as a middle reliever, but he isnt a 'Top Pitching Prospect' so to speak. The Third dude is basically a throw-in. Maybe the Yankees see something in him, but I havent heard much to think he is anything special.

</div>Like I said though, I honestly would have been happy with just Sanchez. They other two are bonus material, and if they develop into solid mid-relievers then hey, you can never have too many good mRP's.

Miller was their first rounder this past season. And he even pitched in the bigs during September call-ups. But that was because he put it in his contract that he had to be called up this year.
