Shields To White Sox

Shields to the Chicago White Sox for a couple of minor leaguers. Shields having a bad year at 2-7 giving up the bombs. Even at his age (34) I guess some one in the organization feels he's got something left in the tank. The Padres will be eating a good portion of the contract. Dude should have stayed in Kansas City where he'd pitched well becoming a Clubhouse Leader. Greener ($$$$$) Pastures aren't always the best.

Why do we assume ballplayers think of anything more than greener pastures?

They have a perishable skillset from which to earn a lifetime of income in a sport with guaranteed contracts.

Personal and team collective performance are nice bonuses but likely not key drivers for a significant % of MLB.
