That play was all on Nova. If you're not pitching well at least show some hustle & field your position.
...and yet another ball that a younger Jeter would have had.
...another questionable play by Roberts...this is ugly.
It pisses me off that we also have to deal with this bullshit at first base again.
Jeter playing SS at 40 and Roberts with such little time at 2B over the last few years - can't really understand the thinking as to how much these guys are being counted on. And game 8 - Cervelli is your 1B? This is not sustainable, and moves need to be made.
It's an infield put together with band-aids, but they knew this going into the season. I just can't believe it wasn't addressed.
That's what's even worse rick - only the most ignorant of homers saw the state of the infield, saw that there was no 3B, and the guys slated to play 1B, 2B, and SS are all coming off injuries, are all old (Tex isn't really old, but has told us enough times over the last 2 years that is in fact old), and beleived this would work itself out as is.
Ownership keeps referring to all the money they spent but they ignored the infield. Roberts should never be counted on as an ever day 2nd bsseman, Jeter is 40 years old and Tex coming off a major injury and hurt already. Just no excuse for seeing a blowout game like this. They wonder why attendance is down.
...fwiw, better pitching will make the defense look better.
... 20 hits.
...the OP was referring to the shoddy defense of this "one game"...and when you give up 20 hits, you're not going to beat anyone, regardless of defense.
