Re: "Show Me What You Got" by Jay-Z

Anyone heard this yet? Maybe you've seen his new "The King is Back" commercial to know. I downloaded the song "Show me what you got" and I think it's pretty good. What do you guys think?

Re: "Show Me What You Got" by Jay-Z

I thought is was horrible. I like the beat and the music video was cool because of the cars and Beyonce. But the song in general just sucked.

Re: "Show Me What You Got" by Jay-Z

The beat is crazy nice... but Jay fell off.He hasn't had a good verse forever. But the album still going to be dope. Kingdom Come and Hip hop is dead from Nas will either save New York or give it another loss.

Re: "Show Me What You Got" by Jay-Z

im starting to like it since its played on every football game...but this isnt jayz at its best ill tell you that much

Re: "Show Me What You Got" by Jay-Z

This song is very overrated. I really think it sucks, and the only reason some people like it is because it's from Jay-Z... his album better be a whole lot better than this...

Re: "Show Me What You Got" by Jay-Z

Another thing... it's a single.Don't judge an album by its single

Re: "Show Me What You Got" by Jay-Z

Sucks? This song is an absolute club banger. Lyrically it isn't typical Jay stuff but to call it horrible is way over the limit.

Re: "Show Me What You Got" by Jay-Z

Nas >>> Jay-Z

I just feel disappointed by the single. I was expecting more from Jay... but like I said, hopefully his album is fire, otherwise...

Even if they did, do you think Jay-Z would give a rat's ass?

Re: "Show Me What You Got" by Jay-Z

All of you besides playa are wrong, he used a sample from a track of Public Enemy and the saxophone comes from Darkest Light by Lafayette Afro Rock Band.

Re: "Show Me What You Got" by Jay-Z

Song is okay. Nice beat, mediocre lyrics for a single.

Re: "Show Me What You Got" by Jay-Z

Best part of the video was the girls on the skiing thing lol

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>he stole the beat from public enemy</div><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>can you be sued for stealing someones beat?</div>he didnt "steal" anyones beat, what he used is something called a sample.Sampling is ok as long as you clear the sampled section of the song with its orignal owner. Check the booklets of your rap and hip hop cds, more than likely you will find words such as "contains elements of" or "contains samples of" and then the name of the song they sampled from. Sampling is one of the reasons some people dont count hip hop and rap as "real" music sometimes, because sampling from other artists songs is so common.

Not as good as what I expected...hopefully he'll have better stuff when his album comes out.

Re: "Show Me What You Got" by Jay-Z

I think this song sucks.. NY is almost dead... "this is why im hot" is the only latest good song that I like from NY

Re: "Show Me What You Got" by Jay-Z

I don't think it is too good. I hate the beat. If it had a different beat, I might like it.

Go listen to Reasonable Doubt.

Re: "Show Me What You Got" by Jay-Z

If sampling a beat is stealing a beat, then Kanye West has stolen every song he's ever made. Also, I know everyone has a right to their own opinion, but I don't think anyone who says Jay-Z isn't good lyrically or hasn't made a good lyrical song in forever, hasn't heard Jay-Z aside from his radio singles. His last album, "The Black Album", has some of the best lyrical rap songs I've ever heard.

Re: "Show Me What You Got" by Jay-Z

Like Heatfan said, take a listen to Reasonable Doubt if you think he sucks. Of course 90% of current mainstream rap sucks but don't blame it on him. Whether you all like it or not he is one of the greats.

</div>Yeah, it's just not my type of thing though. I am fine with the lyrics but the sax part in the beat is what kinda annoys me...

Don't like the song, Or most of Jay-Z's newest songs. He was imo one of the best along time ago.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (P0W3RBALLIN @ Nov 2 2006, 10:11 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>I think this song sucks.. NY is almost dead... Those are arguebly the best rappers in the game and they are all from NY. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (BrewCityBuck @ Nov 3 2006, 04:38 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>I second that...He's the most overrated rapper I can think of .... :thumbdn1:</div>Wow... Mos hasn't really done anything since Bill Clinton was president. I love Mos, but he can't really be considered on of the best out just judging off his most recent efforts (although, I actually like parts of The New Danger). Papoose can't be considered anything outside of a mixtape rapper, which is what ALL of NYC's young emcees are. If Pap can carry an album ,then you might be able to throw him in the mix. Immortal Technique is alright for a while, but he's just al ittle too insane to be considered one of the best out right now. NYC is far from dead, but all the best emcees outta NYC are the same ones as a few years ago (Nas, Jay, Talib, Raekwon, etc.).<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Wow... You must not have heard of any southern rapper that has ever touched a mic...</div>Hating on the south is outplayed. All that crunk sh*t is stupid, yes, but there are a plethora of awesome emcees out from the South.
