JUNEAU, Alaska – Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said President Barack Obama's acknowledgment that he hasn't directly spoken to BP's chief executive shows it "bodes well to have some sort of executive experience before occupying the Oval Office."

Then, in a Facebook posting Tuesday, she outlined her experience. And she urged Obama to contact experts, including those in Alaska, who have held oil companies accountable. In parts of this state, the effects of the Exxon Valdez disaster are still being felt 21 years after that massive oil spill.

"Give them a call," she wrote. "Or, what the heck, give me a call."

Palin's latest missive is extensive, chiding not only Obama but also the media for not calling him out in his handling of the massive oil slick in the Gulf of Mexico. Obama, in an interview with NBC's "Today" show, broadcast Tuesday, said he hadn't spoken directly to BP CEO Tony Hayward because his experience tells him someone like that would say "all the right things" and that he's more interested in action than in words.

However, Obama said "we are communicating to him every single day exactly what we expect of him, and what we expect of that administration."

An oil rig leased by BP PLC exploded in the Gulf of Mexico on April 20, killing 11 workers and unleashing a spill that remains uncontained.

"The current administration may be unaware that it's the President's duty, meeting on a CEO-to-CEO level with Hayward, to verify what BP reports," wrote Palin, the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee and a potential presidential challenger in 2012.

She then extolled her own experience in Alaska, and what she called her administration's efforts to ensure "Big Oil" operated ethically and responsibly. Among those: creation of a Petroleum Systems Integrity Office "when we saw proof of improper maintenance of oil infrastructure in our state. We had to verify. And that's why we instituted new oversight and held BP and other oil companies financially accountable for poor maintenance practices.

"We knew we could partner with them to develop resources without pussyfooting around with them. As a CEO, it was my job to look out for the interests of Alaskans with the same intensity and action as the oil company CEOs looked out for the interests of their shareholders," she wrote.

Palin resigned last summer in the midst of her first term as governor.

Pamela Miller, arctic program director for the Northern Alaska Environmental Center, said she has yet to see "any tangible results in the oil fields" as a result of the office's work. She called Palin's claims on it "hollow."

"And she walked. So how is she holding that entity accountable?" Miller said. "What kind of executive experience is that?"

The White House did not immediately respond to an e-mail seeking comment.

Yeah! He hasn't even gone to bed with them yet, like Alaska and Cheney!?!

Ya gotta admit, though, by now, Obama should have made it a point to meet face-to-face with Hayward.

Probably. Not that it would have accomplished anything at all, but it would have inoculated him from this particular bit of silliness.

why to say "Hey, your guys fucked up!" Because that will make it get fixed faster? If anything him meeting the CEO would make it look like he is on the CEO's side.

No, it would actually make him appear to be caring more than he seemingly is.

You're absolutely correct. In fact, it's getting easier and easier to lampoon that guy.

No, it would actually make him appear to be caring more than he seemingly is.

I'm going to just disagree. I don't think Obama can do anything to please the faux news zombies.

Ya know, you just may be right.

Bingo. A meeting would just be a pointless PR exercise. Now if Palin really wanted action against BP......which I find impossible to believe.......she would be advocating that the FBI show up at his office with an arrest warrant. Of course, that kind of aggressive action would send the tea-baggers into a frenzy.

Now that I think about it - that might be the whole point. Try to goad Obama into doing something, and then condemn him for it!

"I was down there a month ago, before most of these talking heads were even paying attention to the Gulf," Obama told NBC's "Today" show in an interview scheduled to air Tuesday. "A month ago I was meeting with fishermen down there, standing in the rain talking about what a potential crisis this could be."

A variety of critics have accused Obama of being too cerebral in his reaction to the undersea gusher now fouling the Gulf of Mexico, of failing to put the full force of the administration and of putting too much trust in oil company BP. But Obama told NBC his deliberations have been more than academic.

"I don't sit around talking to experts because this is a college seminar," Obama continued. "We talk to these folks because they potentially have the best answers, so I know whose ass to kick."

Perhaps, in speaking to the person who's desk is where BP's buck stops, he might find out who's ass to kick. And I bet the President hasn't kicked anyone's ass, ever.

No President should lower himself to a face-to-face with a member of organized crime like Hayward.

Big Oil's "access" to our previous Presidents is what got us here.

So we and apparently Palin wants, our President to make hollow and pointless gestures like that?

I guess if they keep throwing shit on the wall, something will fit and become a talking point.

So..um..yah. Sic 'em, Sarah. Well done, you proved you can be hollow, pointless, and leader among lemmings.

I really really hope the Republicans are dumb enough to put their 2012 hopes in that idiots hands.

I agree. When a disaster strikes like this, the President's leadership makes a true difference in how people deal with the situation. Obama has talked fairly tough (check), visited the area (check), but really should meet with more locals and the BP people. Thus far, I'd grade him a C- for leadership on this one.

I love the double standard in this country. Bush got killed by the liberal media for his slow reaction time to hurricane Katrina, but No one says a word about Obama and his slow reaction time to this mess.

Maybe they should only hire illegals to work on the oil rigs? Obama seems to care a lot more about them anyway.

Well, the "liberal media" actually has chastised Obama for his slow reaction/response. But his "slow reaction" pales in comparison to Bush's. He was down there before it hit the shore and didn't have a birthday cake with a prominent democrat for a photo op.

But admitting that kind of defeats your goal here, so just ignore it like you did when I mentioned the other idiotic partisan things you said (about beauty pageants for example).

...yeah. Ok. well done, you can read talking point emails. Congrats.

Speaking of someone who just pukes out his reactionary emails that just simply going to snopes would debunk about 90% of them...where is shooter?

Zounds! Obama and his jackbooted socialist thugs have captured Shooter!

I can't recall a lot of presidents meeting face to face with company leaders to chide them and it doesn't accomplish holding anyone accountable at all... it is just a media photo shoot.

To a certain degree, this is true. But people who are affected by this want to know their top leadership is taking it seriously. It makes a difference. Perhaps Obama thinks that by meeting with BP it might give the sppearance he's making deals or something. But by just ripping BP without talking to them is, to me, poor leadership. Political sound bites to appeal to the masses. Cheap & easy.

Jesus Christ, the right-wing nutjobs on here are in quite a tizzy lately.

Why don't you ask the Republican Governor who trashed Obama's first speech, what he thinks of his efforts.

Wel, YOU may not think this oil spill amounts to anything, but most others do.

It's an ecological disaster of monumental proportions. However, saying that Katrina and this are in any way Apples to Apples in the role that government plays in the response to it is flat-out idiocy.

Palin is a buffoon, anyone who doesn't get that now should not be allowed to vote. She's already blamed the oil spill on environmentalists, so yeah, keep listening to her.

I like Pailn, because people who quote her are easily identifiable as people who give nothing to the world. Those people don't count.

I know, what a pussy, how can we elect someone who isn't into kicking ass? We should really ask more of our leaders. If our next president isn't Chris Brown, i'll be pissed. At least he's kicked some ass.

Why does Palin have to exist....Im so sick of her stupid backseat driving comments....I really find it sad for the human race that people still care what is coming out of her pie hole. I mean really, Republicans cant find somebody else who has pretty much her same political stance but you know....smart?

not legally. I know that doesn't mean much to you, but....

And if he hasn't kicked anyone's ass, that's cool. Don't pretend you're hard, though. That's hypocritical. Another thing you don't seem to have a problem with.
