In '06-'07, the Lakers went 42-40; in '07-'08, we went 41-41

In '07-'08, the Lakers were 29-16 after 45 games; in '08-'09, we are 28-17.

We have a heady, steady PG, a young pac-10 combo guard waiting in the wings, an all-star 2, a flashy euro swingman, questions at the 3, an athletic talented 4, a LARGE young developing center, and another center with a large expiring contract; all were true of the Lakers last year.

The Lakers traded for Gasol in early February, and he started their 47th game of the year, on the road against New Jersey. If we make a trade within the next couple days, the new player could start our 47th game--on the road against New Orleans. IF that were to happen, I'd say the coincidences would have officially reached the eerie stage.

Interesting concept and thought.
As long as we don't play the Lakers in the first round or the western finals (like in 2000) thats okay with me!

I hope the eerie similarity isn't that we get to the Finals, choke on a 24 point lead, and then get routed by 39 points. I'd rather go all the way.

Better to choke in the finals than to get bounced in the first round.

Got to agree there.

We are in a unique position right now with our talent and Raef's contract. This is really our best chance to get to the next level and start contending. There's a perfect storm of the economy stinking and several teams with players we want that could really use some financial relief.
