Jeff Green > Greg Oden??? lol, thats a low blow

He did give some sort of weird compliment though...

10:17: Jeff Green sinks one in Bonner's mug. How 'bout Sam Presti snaring two of the best four rookies in that 2007 draft? I'd rank Durant first, Horford second, Joakim Noah third and Green fourth.

(Note: I'd give you a top 12, but then we'd have to discuss Greg Oden … and Rip City is already on edge enough thanks to the firing of assistant GM Tom Penn and the subsequent "Kevin Pritchard might be next" rumors. Which is really what separates Portland from any other basketball city: NOBODY ELSE would care this much about an assistant GM getting fired unless he got canned because he was plowing into his assistant on a Xerox machine or something. In Portland, this saga is being analyzed like President Obama's health care package. There is no other NBA city like it. And I mean that as a compliment.)

well, Oden hasn't really played yet all that much.

Jeff Green's mediocre, and plays out of position. I couldn't care less about Simmons' opinions on personnel matters. I understand people like him because he writes like a fan. Good for him. He's also an idiot when listening to his basketball opinions and personnel moves.

+1

Plus, he tilts his "opinions" to whatever will rile a group up more. He knows he can get to a lot of Portland fans easily by dismissing Oden in print, and those Portland fans will eat up every word he writes and furiously write e-mails to prove they're reading. Good deal for Simmons.

Well I appreciate the "compliment" he gave us! We are unique for sure.

Yeah. I also see nothing wrong with leaving Oden out at this point. Plus, he did say Oden would be "Top 12", which is amazing considering he has missed the sum of two entire seasons in his three years.

Wonder if Bill ever posts on here???

Simmons is right until proven otherwise. The windows is closing for Oden to prove winning the #1 pick wasn't really a curse in disguise. He need a monster year next season silence most of the doubters. Myself included.

Oden is 22. The window is closing? Really?

I guess the window is closing on all of us, at some level.

Sorry guys, as of the time of his post, he is 100% correct. Jeff Green has been more valuable to OKC than Oden has been to us.

He did't say more valuable though. He wrote Green is the fourth best rookie out of that class... btw Landry and Gasol are much better than Green.

So is there an age window at which people can not recover from injuries?

We are kind of like the Green bay packers... but without several more titles

As an avid longtime fan of the Packers I can say unequivocally that "ownership" is imminently more fucked up here in Portand ... then again the Packers are a publicly held organization with shareholders and no single rich-dick owner.

I don't think it's all that unique that we're investing thought and opinions over the Penn/KP situation. Considering the state of the franchise a mere 4 years ago, and considering the amount of credit the Penn/KP partnership has received for executing the turn around, I think this kind of attention would be given by any basketball crazy town in the same situation. Including NY/LA/Boston.
