There's a pretty decent Scientific American article (Aug. 3, p. 46-53---no link since it cuts off the article unless you pay) about the nuclear waste options now that the President and SecEnergy have taken Yucca Mountain off the table. It's not hard-core science and engineering, but a decent survey of the history behind waste storage and how it came to be Yucca Mountain that was chosen (and now, un-chosen). My personal takeaway is that politics and fear (in no small part to scientific ignorance) have stalled this, and problem-solvers aren't being allowed to have a go at it for political reasons. And that's something I have a problem with.

But I think it's a decent read whether you know a ton about nuclear waste or not.

It seems odd to me that many who militantly choose to ignore the scientific evidence showing nuclear power as safe and clean also choose to call anyone who even slightly questions the scientific evidence behind Climate Change Theory ignorant fools...

To be fair, though, the climate change group had a champion. For whatever you want to say about the guy, Gore did bring this to the consciousness of a lot of people that wouldn't normally hear it. There isn't a guy like that for nuclear power.

You could be that man, BrianFromWA. It is your destiny. Use the Force (the strong force).

Moderatorship is my first step to a Nobel Peace Prize. Alas, I'm not with a fashion model. :)

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single fashion model.

Or a married one, if needed.

So do a lot of divorces.

Good good..because after 9 million posts about climate change I was really hoping we could get back on that topic...

Keep up the chilly responses, that's gotta help slow the so-called "warming trend," lol...

LOL...she's never been tall enough, though those indie agencies keep trying to get her to come in. Most of it pegs her "shady meter" though, and she stays away.

Besides, with her creativity, she'd be the one trying to run the shoots, which I've heard isn't a good trait in models.

If we could find a good way to deal with the waste, it'd be a nice source of energy. Even though we are just making fancy steam engines with it. I don't think we can really comment more without the article.

For some reason, all the groups that try to form, eventually decay and kick out a guy. :devilwink:
