The Sioux Falls Skyforce defeated the Iowa Energy 97-84 Thursday night at the Sanford Pentagon. Sioux Falls never trailed and led by as many as 27, but the real impact was made on the defensive end for the Skyforce.
Sioux Falls (16-9) held Iowa (16-10) to under 100 points for the fourth time in five contests between the division rivals. For the first time, the Skyforce held the Energy to under 90 points and held Iowa 32 points shy of their season average for points scored (116.3). Iowa was held to 39.8 percent from the field and surrendered 25 turnovers.

DeAndre Liggins continued his strong play and registered team highs in rebounds, assists, and steals. The guard out of Kentucky finished the night with 18 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists, seven steals and two blocked shots while shooting 50 percent from the floor.

Justin Hamilton posted his 11th double-double of the season with 26 points and 11 rebounds. Tre Kelley had 23 points and Larry Drew II rounded out Skyforce performers in double figures with 10. Sioux Falls dominated points in the paint (56-46) and on the run (31-21), besting Iowa by double digits in both categories.

Moses Ehambe paced Iowa with 17 points followed by Larry Owens and Austin Freeman, who both finished with 13. Jackie Carmichael pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds for the Energy.

The same two teams will tangle Saturday night in Des Moines at 7 p.m. CT.
