<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Although I cannot provide his true identity due to the MWPP (Mascot Witness Protection Program)…the man known to the PR department as Miguel Angel Cordero, Jr. has retired from the mascot business. Although Sly will continue to entertain both on and off the Izod court, the man who has held down that spot on and off for the past nine years has taken his Fox head off for the last time…deciding that at this time in his life, dunking with the dancers is just not in the cards anymore. And for all who have seen his performances, you would have to question why now, when the Dunking Divas has become the act that would welcome the most fan participation if open to a vote, the Man inside the Fox would call it a day…or a night…or whenever he would climb out of the vehicle known as the Slymobile…which I am told was actually used for the show ‘Cash Cab’. There were hundreds of dunks, skits, high fives and dancing jives…but the all-time favorite had to be when he repelled from the top of the arena-1998, first game post-lockout- and just missed smashing into the backboard…after which time such hijinks were banned from the NBA…and what greater accolade than to be the person who changed the face of Mascot Land…by being so crazy that the league had to stop him from himself. My man Miguel is headed down south…and if you’re driving through a state such as North Carolina, and see a guy leaping from telephone pole to telephone pole…give a shout out…Sly would appreciate it.</div>
