He just won an NBA championship his 2nd year as a head coach. Or is he another Doc Rivers type?

Finally tries to start a legit discussion, messes up the years. lol.

And no.

Honestly that Cavs team looked like it was in disarray. Not a well oiled machine. Thankfully for Cavs fans they had LeBronster (the most dominant player in the game) and the best PG in the series. This championship is not on the coach.

Also, it's not 2 seasons. it's not even ONE season... it's half a freaking season.

Or, to say it the Lebron James way: "Not 7, not 6, not 5, not 4, not 3, not 2, not 1, but HALF a season."

Tyrion did good coaching the Cavs but it's on Game of Thrones where he is great.

This is like when Rockets coach Bill Fitch made Olajuwon into a superstar, then was replaced by coach Don Chaney, who imposed his bad system onto the team. Chaney was replaced by Rudy Tomjanovich, who dropped any system and just handed the reigns to Olajuwon, who played the Fitch system. They won 2 championships before Barkley was added and dragged them down with selfishness. Then the mindless Lakers hired Tomjanovich as head coach and he lasted half a season.

Lue will look great as long as he follows LeBron the way that Tomjanovich trailed Hakeem's coattails.

I don't know enough about Lue to judge, but from what I've seen his style is....give the ball to Lebron...then give the ball to Lebron..easiest coaching gig on the planet..also post game Lebron is all about himself....My guys follow me, I know everything, they just need to listen to me...as great as he is, he's his own fan club..he didn't praise Lue until he was prompted by a reporter to talk about him...then he said they were equals....like co-coaches

Is 2-time champion Erik Spoelstra considered a great coach yet?

How long did Pat Riley have to be coach before he was considered "great".

Was Paul Westead a great coach? Like Lue, he took over a talented team and won a title with less than a full season of head coaching experience. The next year, his team underachieved and lost in the 1st round. He never made to the playoffs again and finished with a career coaching record of 183-224. Without LeBron James, Tyron Lue is a less innovative, more boring Paul Westhead.

I doubt that BGD knew who Westhead was before you mentioned it (and didn't know the name w/out googling. At best he probably thought "wait, Paul Westphal? Didn't he coach the Sonics once?"). So I'm afraid you just went way over his head.

Westhead is the only coach to ever win both a NBA title and a WNBA title. Not to mention his coaching of the LMU College Team that was sure fun to watch for a while.

I don't think he was a great NBA coach persay but he was a great coach overall.

He was innovative to the point of being ahead of his time. His offensive pace AFTER he coached the Lakers (LMU and DEN) made Mike D'Antoni's 7-seconds or less offense look like they were stalling.

I wonder how much of that was a result of overcompensation for losing his job to Pat Riley. When Westhead coached the Lakers, were more of a traditional half-court team that still relied heavily on feeding Kareem in the low post. They had the 8th fastest pace in the league (out of 22 teams). They were upset in the 1st round when Moses outplayed Kareem. Then Riley took over, they became the Showtime Lakers and won multiple championships.
