Here's one thing I do know about the search- there are a ton of impressive candidates who are pounding on the door, never mind what some of the uneducated and cynical would have you believe. There is hero potential here in Portland, given the opportunity this franchise has heading into this summer. There's that, and then there's an owner who has shown an amazing commitment to putting a winning team on the floor- a guy who has always shown a willingness to spend whatever it takes to follow a blueprint. People around the country get that, believe me. That's why the line of applicants outside Larry Miller's office is so long.

That brings us to the next coach of the Trail Blazers. This line is forming as well, and you'd be pleasantly surprised to learn who has expressed major interest so far.

Because obviously they're the most qualified for the job.... duh!

I'd like to sell you a bridge if you believe this PR fluff.

It's only been an entire year since Rich Cho was fired.

I don't know if I feel badly for Mike Barret or if I loathe him? ... I guess it all comes down to whether or not somebody is standing over his shoulder as he types this stuff out.

Side point: I assume everybody asks themselves, "what are you hiding" when somebody drops, "believe me" in a conversation or a column right?

Ha, ha. I didn't click the link but I surmised it was Barrett's writing. It's just so...Barrett.

We believe in the direction we are going. Chad has done a great job given the adversity of our roster last year with Brandon retiring on the eve of training camp. Kaleb has the backing of every player on the roster, has done the one thing that is harder to do than anything else in coaching, which is getting all 12 guys to play hard for you.

Signed Larry boy

Despite PA the Blazers Organization is still a highly desirable place to be. Barret might be embellishing, but doubt he's lying about there being a number of candidates.

Curious to know why you think he is not lying? I mean what has he ever said that would make you think he is not spinning this?

How dare you impugn the integrity of a straight shooter like Mike Barrett. The Blazers job ... er ... jobs (now that I think about it) are the most desirable jobs in the whole NBA. I mean for crissakes, this team won a "green" award for all of their recycling they do at the Rose Quarter. If that's not the description of a model NBA franchise I don't know what is.

Good day sir ... No, I said Good day!

Wasn't Nate one of the highest paid coaches in the NBA?

If so, there is a reason to line up for the job

Sorry Mike B, but in cases like this you have zero credibility. I hope they pay you really well to have this insulting drivel posted under your name.

No line? Double the going rate. Bingo, a long line.

Paul can produce a line at will.

Dude the guy works for the Blazers. He is being paid by the Blazers. He cannot say or write anything without the permission of the team. Give him a break. I think he does a decent job for the amount of "limitations" he has on this team.

"There's a lot of guys capable of doing the job and doing it well. There's more than one out there. They just need to pick one. They just need to hire one. This has gone on for a long time. They've had a lot rejection, quietly, a lot of rejection.

Really, Mike?

"No one can do this job except Pritchard! We are doomed! Waaaah! Other teams will line up to make him their GM!"

If Kingspeed can bump old threads, so can i :MARIS61:

This is the reality of it. He can buy any coach or GM alive who is not under contract. Only his reluctance to pay $ or cede some actual control to them will prevent it from happening.
