So who makes the bigger impact?

2) McCann (Yankees)
3) Ellsbury (Yankees)
4) Beltran (Yankees)
5) Granderson (Mets)
6) Colon (Mets)
7) Cano (Mariners)

I think both Beltran & Ellsbury will benefit from the short right field porch. While both Grandy & Cano will miss the porch greatly. I'm guessing Grandy's 40 homer days are over in the spacious Citi field. If I'm betting I'd say less the 30. And I'm putting Cano down for less the 25 in Safco. (15-20)

See #2 (McCann) and yeah he's going to be a HUGE upgrade at catcher. BTW: who backs him up, Cervelli, Romine or Murphy?

uggh...my eyes missed that...my bad lol

and I would think Cervelli would be best fit to be the backup with Romine and Murphy getting playing time either in AAA or as a trading chip for starting pitching

I agree on McCann. Biggest upgrade and biggest impact with the bat and on the field.

He displayed a bit of the Munson toughness last season waiting at home plate to get in the face of that player (i forget who) for trying to show the pitcher up. I was very impressed by that.

...all 3 players will be upgrades from last year. Beltran and McCann will be huge upgrades over last year's positions but Elsbery not quite as much since he's replacing Gardner in CF.

Hey my old friend, hope all is well. I disagree on Ellsbury. He's a much better player then Gardner. A better hitter & a much better base stealer (stole 52 of 56). He also has better power then Gardner & should benefit from the short right field porch. I'm predicting a 15-20 HR season.

I think the biggest impact on that list has to be McCann bar none... he is so far above what he replaced... all the others are upgrades over their predecessors, but McCann, IMO, will have the biggest impact. I agree that Cano and Granderson's impact will be lessened by the fact that they will be spending significant amounts of time now in pitcher parks...

...hey rick...again they are ALL upgrades over last year's positions. Beltran and McCann are obvious upgrades over the catchers and RFers of last year and Elsbury, while being a better offensive player than Gardner, I think Gardner is a slightly better defensive CFer. Like I said, all are upgrades over last year but the contrast between CFers is not as big between Gardner and Els as it is between McCann/Beltran vs the players they are replacing.

...pretty much the way I see it hammer...and if you think about it, how many Yankee teams have won championships without exceptional catchers?...Dicky, Berra, Howard, Munson, Girardi, Posada...well, you get the idea.
