Incredible stuff Pastafazul.....honestly stunning account. Thank You, I never had a clue, as to the cheapness of the Twins Org. ...been real nice for the last week...mid 70s and 80s. Already harrowed up my soil for my annual garden, mixed in some chicken shit from a local chicken house, started my seeds in peat pots...I'm ready to go.

...I think I posted this pic before but it's of one of my okra stalks from last year...you can compare the diameter of the stalk by looking at my wrist in the pic...nobody around here has ever seen them that big...they eventually got to 8-9 feet tall and i had to bend the stalks over to harvest the pods. So I save 5-6 pods and dried them and figured genetically, they'd reproduce the same type plants this year and those are the seeds I'm germinating now.

My Lord, I have never seen Monster-ized (diameter of a Fore-arm) HOLY MOSES, Jack and his Beanstalk, had nothing, comparable to your harvest yield, from your incredible garden, of Green Giant-Okra.

Stunning pics 59, …..I have to admit far exceeds my wildest imagination...I do miss Georgia’s Okra and its other incredible Produce.

Being diagnosed diabetic upon arriving in Perry, fresh bountiful Produce, was a lifesaver, and, was available every where. Even available frozen in Winters from the local Kroger’s. Altho’ those Fresh Country Produce stands, or markets, were/are loaded with Local GA., Produce, were/are, second to NONE.
California’s San Joaquin-Central or Mexi-fukn-Cali produce, is not comparable. Altho’ I’ve preferred Ca. oranges over Fla...

[CA., Tomatoe’s are comparable, yet all other produce, and fruits, like Watermelon, (any melons for that matter), or Stawberries, PEACHE’S, et. al. from/in-Georgia were/are much better, IMHO].

one of the biggest mistakes, I may of ever made, was indeed, leaving the green country of Georgia, for this fuckn wasted barren, damned dirty Hurricane winded, Mojave Dried out desert.

I too find Roma's a more consistent tomatoe. I prefer a good juicy Beefsteak, yet the last good Beef-Steak came out of the Mississippi Valley of Louisiana, or Kansas' Savannah, as well as Fresno, CA. Tho' these Produce companies here want as much to ship those big tomatoes, down here, and they want as much for those red jumbo's, as they do for a Filet Mignon.

I get it "Beef-Steak", but this State-CA., gets its commerce all turned around ass backwards.

...never been able to grow the larger varieties here for some reason and I've had my soil tested by the extension agency. Everything else does well in my garden, okra, smaller tomatoes, potatoes, radishes, cukes, and greens during the cooler months. One of the tricks I learned about growing tomatoes is to avoid watering them from above with a sprinkler. Instead, I use a cheap soaker hose that is buried in the soil next to the plants...also, though most people will plant tomatoes in direct sunlight I have found that it is best to plant them where they get some early morning and late afternoon shade. This helps in preventing the tomatoes from splitting open from the summer heat.
...as far as the bigger "maters", when I need one I simply buy it from the grocery store...but the Romas are perfect for eating right off the vine or salads...or better yet, they are perfect for making home made salsa.
...and when growing cukes, I have found that using a trellis is a must.
...and okra?...with the exception of water during dry spells, they are virtually maintenance free, although harvesting the pods and removal of sucker leaves actually promotes more fruit growth..
