Note from Senior Management:

Andrew Breitbart was never a "Birther," and Breitbart News is a site that has never advocated the narrative of "Birtherism." In fact, Andrew believed, as we do, that President Barack Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, on August 4, 1961.

Yet Andrew also believed that the complicit mainstream media had refused to examine President Obama's ideological past, or the carefully crafted persona he and his advisers had constructed for him.

It is for that reason that we launched "The Vetting," an ongoing series in which we explore the ideological background of President Obama (and other presidential candidates)--not to re-litigate 2008, but because ideas and actions have consequences.

It is also in that spirit that we discovered, and now present, the booklet described below--one that includes a marketing pitch for a forthcoming book by a then-young, otherwise unknown former president of the Harvard Law Review.

It is evidence--not of the President's foreign origin, but that Barack Obama's public persona has perhaps been presented differently at different times.

The denial by Obama that he was born in Kenya can only mean that the Blazers are for sale.

Actually they've come up with a new conspiracy theory, that Stanley Ann Dunham got pregnant by a much older member of the Communist Party and it was covered up by getting a Kenyan Muslim to stand in for the real father. I am not making this up. Why an African Muslim would be less scandalous than an American Communist I am not sure, but logic isn't their strong point. To put it mildly.

I think he was born in the US. I just wonder why he apparently pretended to be born in Kenya.

Maybe for credibility within academic circles? Sure would like to see those college transcripts.

Archive.org shows that the Dystel website used the following biography for Obama as of April 3, 2007:

Quote
BARACK OBAMA is the junior Democratic senator from Illinois and was the dynamic keynote speaker at the 2004 Democratic National Convention. He was also the first African-American president of the Harvard Law Review. He was born in Kenya to an American anthropologist and a Kenyan finance minister and was raised in Indonesia, Hawaii, and Chicago. His first book, DREAMS FROM MY FATHER: A STORY OF RACE AND INHERITANCE, has been a long time New York Times bestseller.

Obama launched his presidential campaign in February 2007.

By April 21, 2007, the Obama bio had been changed to state that Obama was born in Hawaii:

Quote

He was also the first African-American president of the Harvard Law Review. Obama had already been a national figure for three years, since the Democratic National Convention in 2004, by the time the biography was changed; he had been a sitting Senator for over two years. :MARIS61:

Literary Agent Says 1991 Booklet was a Mistake
Breitbart News reports on a promotional booklet produced in 1991 by Barack Obama's then-literary agency which describes the author as "born in Kenya and raised in Indonesia and Hawaii."

Miriam Goderich issued the following statement to Political Wire:

"You're undoubtedly aware of the brouhaha stirred up by Breitbart about the erroneous statement in a client list Acton & Dystel published in 1991 (for circulation within the publishing industry only) that Barack Obama was born in Kenya. This was nothing more than a fact checking error by me -- an agency assistant at the time. There was never any information given to us by Obama in any of his correspondence or other communications suggesting in any way that he was born in Kenya and not Hawaii. I hope you can communicate to your readers that this was a simple mistake and nothing more."

Full disclosure: I am a client of the same literary agency.

all typos are true, when written in the book of life

False information travels very fast, and it didn't start being corrected until it actually "mattered" where he was born

I moved to Hawaii from Des Moines, Iowa. I arrived when Obama was 3 weeks old. I heard no baby crying.

True story so far.

He must not have been there.

4 years ago called, they want the time we all wasted reading this back.

Either that or it was part of a whitewash job to convince the American people that he was qualified to be president.

You should meet Occam's Razor

AP article from 2004 that appeared in many newspapers.

Breitbart will also be releasing a video from a 10/6/2004 debate between Alan Keyes and Obama, during which keys says that Obama wasn't born in the US, and Obama says it doesn't matter, because he isn't running for President.

Who is Barack Obama? I think we all deserve an explanation.

We deserved an explanation BEFORE he ran for president, but the press wouldn't provide it. Obama is the first affirmative-action president, because the media has looked the other way many times in order to get him into office.

Obama may or may not be a natural born USA citizen. But considering he wasn't raised in Kenya, I've always been willing to call it good.

Don't you guys have better things to do than to re-start the whole birther thing? It SCREAMS of desperation.

Plus, it brings back into the public eye that complete nut job Alan Keyes.

I think Papa has a valid point. In fact, I had never thought of it like this. I've always believed Obama was born in the U.S. I still do. This isn't a "birther" issue. It might actually be a final solution. It's certainly possible there was a period of time Obama claimed to have been born in Kenya. In his world, at that time, I could see many benefits to fibbing about such a thing. Interesting. If this comes out as the facts of the situation, the birthers will become the "Obama lied to gain a stronger minority status and credibility amongst his peirs-ers" Birthers is much easier to say.

I know, someone lied to benefit somehow.

Will wonders never cease.

Let's have him run a marathon. If he wins, he's Kenyan, and he's out. If he loses, he isn't fit to be President. Problem solved.

What I don't understand is how he gets away with calling fellow Kenyan Kanye West a jackass.

I often confuse "Kenya" with "Hawaii" when I'm visiting Hawaii.

"Hey hun, what time is our flight to Kenya? Errrr, Hawaii!"

Clearly a birther time-traveled to 1991 and planted this reference to a Kenyan birth into this bio. Otherwise, one might conclude that they were right to at least wonder about this nonsense. :dunno:
