Portland assistant Monty Williams hasn't been hurting his head coaching candidacy lately. He's already on a few GM's short list.

Awhile back, some feared he'd go to Minny. Fortunately, though, he's smarter than that.

Hopefully KP does the smart thing and lets Nate go for someone he actually hired......Monty

I finally found that picture of you........

So Peter Scolari, or am I being called a cross dresser because I think KP might want to keep someone he hired rather than someone he inherited?

I assumed he meant you were a great actor.

So, a few games where Nate finally took Blake out of the lineup and gave minutes to Jerryd Bayless, and all the sudden he's a good coach?

Why wasn't he doing this from the start of the season?

Because he understands the mind of an NBA player? We're all armchair point guards. Much too easy for us to decide.

He would make an excellent head coach! We will lose him soon I think.

He might 'understand' the mind of an NBA player, but why is it he refuses to play the ones that are better?

why is it that Channing Frye and Sergio both have had better seasons after they left Portland?

Why is it that the rest of the league knows that Blake shouldn't have been starting?

Because KP put undue pressures on the man. That's why.

Friggin' tourist. ;)

I'm just saying I can see where MM is coming from. Personally I think Nate is this decade's version of Mike Schuler and Maybe I see Monty as its Rick Adelman?

If Nate doesn't stick long term (and I think he's got at least one more year because of the injuries) and Monty is still around I could see him taking the reins.

I couldn't agree with you more. That's a very spot-on take, IMO. Timing is everything, though. I think some of the others in here are suffering from premature somethingorother.

Yeah, watching him do the interview segments last night my gf and I were talking about the same thing...it's like a finishing school for Monty at this point...

Because they're both playing on shittier teams with worse players allowing for more minutes and no pressure.

HTH

So, KP wanted him to play Blake at the expense of Miller/Rudy/Bayless? Or are you saying Nate played Blake because KP didn't want him to, and Nate got his back up?

Neither scenario really strikes me as all that realistic.

Not sure I'd call Phoenix a 'shiiter' team.
