Not "create more wealth".

A telling (and rare) moment of candor from Obama.

Why create when you are rewarded for mediocrity and punished for success?

There is no doubt left in my mind; Obama is an outright socialist. I realize that the word can be used as a pejorative, but I am talking about the literal meaning of the political ideology.

IMO, we haven't seen anything yet.

I don't think he's an "outright socialist" (which, to me, implies something approaching communism). I think he's more socialist than any candidate of recent vintage.

Probably not as socialist as FDR, who was and remains hugely popular. We'll see.

FDR had winning WWII in his favor and stood by the military through hundreds of thousans of casualties without flinching or criticizing them. Plus, he died before the holes in some of his New Deal policies became evident. He went out on top.

Are you really trying to compare Obama to FDR?

I recently came across "The 10 Cannots" :

"The 10 Cannots"
You cannot lift the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer.
You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.
You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You cannot help small men by tearing down big men.
You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than your income.
You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatreds.
You cannot establish security on borrowed money.
You cannot build character and courage by taking away a man's initiative and independence.
You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they could and should do for themselves.

~William J. H. Boetcker (sometime attributed to Abraham Lincoln)

I don't think we should compare the two until 2022, when Obama will be starting his 4th term.

You should send that 4th one to McCain's campaign managers.

I said he was, and remains, extremely popular. If there are any "holes" in his New Deal that have still not come to light, they never will.

No, I'm simply noting that socialism can be extremely popular in this nation when done well, as FDR showed.
