No, I'll never apply for that position, but having noticed NateBishop3's generally tiresome tactic of baiting and insulting, and now at the very least implying a threat of deadly bodily harm to his main target poster (pun intended), I wonder if there are actual rules, standards, fees...???

How does someone teetering on the brink of madness become a mod? :dunno:

I understand PapaG's concern. I've met enough nut cases on the internet to make me wary too.

Were PapaG to pursue this with a lawyer or law enforcement, and include past transcripts of NB3 posts, I'm pretty sure NB3 would end up with an addition to his police record. That puts the board in a position of liability since they have ignored the requests to have the picture removed and apparently openly condone NB3's actions.

There are quite a few laws written about threatening people's lives whether online or not.

Nobody should feel threatened here, and NB3 has quite clearly and purposely threatened PapaG's life, whether he meant it seriously (most threats come from impotent cowards) or in his small mind thought it to be humorous.

I think this needs to be resolved for the good of the board.

Your so out there, I'm not sure that anyone actually takes you seriously. Your schtick is cute though.
 
PM Denny or Shape and ask them the standards.

Nothing has been resolved, although Denny Crane did use good judgement and have the threats removed from the board. I still have them archived, however.

I'll add that one S2, as memory serves, the first three mods were selected before everybody had migrated by a vote of 20 posters or so.

barfo, Ed O, and Minstrel received this honor at that stage.

Then, after the community continued to grow, a vote was held by the community to select the next mods.

BrianFromWA and NateBishop3 received the most votes on an elimination basis, although a few posters (BoobNoMore comes to mind) declined to be added to the mix.

So, basically, it's been a community-based selection process, with the secondary group being selected from a larger sample.

Matter of opinion.

Had it been directed at me I would have taken it as a serious threat.

My understanding is that you asked him for a picture of himself. He gave you one. What's the problem? That there's a gun in it?

I have a picture of me spinning a basketball. It doesn't follow that if I said "Hi, Minstrel" below it that I would show up, unannounced, and challenge him to a game of one on one.

Further, your quote of him in your sig was nowhere near a threat. He thinks you're pathetic (or whatever adjective was there) and he wondered if you were just a jerk online or in person, too. That's not a threat in the least. It's curiosity.

I'm so glad I quit being a mod a long time ago. Doesn't matter who the mods are the same ass cracks bitch about the same shit. Here's an idea change you're diet, more leafy greens less carbs then maybe your hole won't be so raw and you can actually focus on posting like mature adults instead of playing the same Martyr shitfest you've been playing for years.

First of all, try again, but with clarity next time, so I can at least understand it. Secondly, I didn't post the avatar/"PapaG" threat. I've moderated boards before. I realize the challenges, but as a mod, I was always above petty/quasi-criminal insults.

You didn't start the thread and I wasn't responding about you or to you. I have been around this basic core of posters for 7-8 years now and for as Long as I can remember Maris has been screaming about mods. Calling them Facists, Nazis, racist, etc..etc... It doesn't matter who is a mod here MARIS will go out of his way to try and vilify them.

Honestly PapaG I know nothing of your issue with NB, sounds like it is pretty specific and personal, rather than all encompassing. I will say though that in reading what is going on, Nate made a mistake posting that picture, but I don't think it would be in anyway posted as a legit threat. Bad joke probable, but what kind of a Moron would use his real name as a Screen name for 7+ years and then be pretty blatantly public about threatening a person with legit violence?
