The true "DUMB" Starbucks.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs...eo-has-a-terrible-idea-to-fix-race-relations/

The good news, I guess, is that Starbucks chief executive Howard Schultz realizes that racism is a problem. The bad news is that he thinks he has figured out what step to take next: He will urge baristas to write “race together” on your $5 coffee, and then they will explain to you about the need for compassion and about how we, as a nation, are better than that.

I wish I were making this up. I am not.

“I’m asking you to perform that small gesture of writing ‘Race Together’ on a cup,” Schultz urges Starbucks employees, in a video. “And if a customer asks you what this is, try and engage in a discussion, that we have problems in this country with regard to race and racial inequality, and we believe we’re better than this, and we believe the country’s better than this. And if this makes you have a conversation with a customer about the need for compassion, the need for empathy, the need for love towards others, if you can do that with one customer one day, then you’re making a significant difference as we go forward.”

“I think this is really important,” Schultz concluded, “not so much for the company, but for the country.”

The idea — that the revolutionary action needed in our nation’s continued entanglement with racism is writing a phrase on a Starbucks cup — is a frothy combination of one pump hubris, three pumps privilege and four shots of I-can’t-even.

Sure. That was what we were missing. Nailed it, Howard.

Again, it’s great that the chief executive of a major corporation is aware that this is a problem. I guess? But he must be pretty well cocooned from reality if this is the action he thinks is called for. This is so far from a good next step that a carrier pigeon flying from this to a good next step would die of old age. Does Schultz have any reason to think this is not going to go over like a lead balloon covered in “Serena” DVDs?

This shit is getting out of hand. I was at a conference for diversity a few weeks ago and lots of big corporations are giving bonuses to managers that can hire and retain non white workers. Are you kidding me? What ever happened to hiring the most qualified person instead of trying to get your % of a certain race working for you up

At this point, its just best to stand on the sidelines and watch the shit get fucked up.

Wow! Where yah been? The most qualified died in the last century. About 30 years ago, maybe a few more, I was doing my stint of college recruiting. I was given strict hiring gates,
Whites and Asian, 3.7 GPA or better in Computer Science or Electrical engineering
Blacks 3.2 or better in any BS degree.

In about 9 trips to various campuses I managed to hire zero. Couldn't find any whites with that GPA only Vietnamese. The Head of the Computer Science Department at the U of W sort of clued me in on all the sharing of a multitude of things the Vietnamese of that day were sharing.

I did find about three Black guys that would qualify but they were not interested. One from Stanford said it best, he had a 3.25 GPA and really proud of the accomplishment.
After I told him about the Job, he ask me why I thought he would want to work for me? Because I have the job? He laughed and walked away.

I allowed myself to get sidetracked. Who the hell wants to pay big bucks for bad coffee And an ear full of lefties talking points. When I go to Seattle I always have coffee at Tulley's,
downtown Ballard. Walking distance from the Shileshole marina.

I'm dark enough that I don't have to deal with what cracka azz cracka white dudes deal with, but i'm not dark enough that i'll be shot by the police. I have the best of both worlds.

I'm part Indian too, but I look white as Fuck so nobody could ever tell.

I thought it was all because of my Indian blood, but as I said in another thread I recently found out I have a significant amount of Spanish heritage too, that probably helps balance out my Swedish blood.

I'm going to tell them my name is Honky, then stand way on the other side of the store while they make my drink and make them call out, "Honky... Honky... your grande mocha is ready!" Then I'll start crying in front of everyone.

I would pay to watch.

YOU'RE MUCH TOO WHITE TO ACTUALLY CARRY THROUGH WITH THIS BLIND THREAT.

To make matters worse, I have a German surname.

I guess you will have to do without the benefits. Ha!

I am Scott one side and Welch Scott of the other. When I went over there to vist relatives and check out the Clan country, I was surprised to find the Clan lands of both sides were but 20 25 miles apart. One Grandmother from Ulster, again about 20 miles a cross the channel.

Near me, there's a Black Starbucks. Some of the trippiest shit ever. Imagine that Starbucks in Beaverton in the Fred Meyer where all the little crackaz congregate on a Friday night, but its all black people instead. SO WEIRD BRO.

Everyone in my family is enrolled in the Californian tribe we're members of, but we don't get any of that sweet casino money, ain't that some shit?

I've always wanted to go visit my cousins in Sweden, but since we've talked to them on Facebook they're actually kind of weird so now I don't want to.

Which company did you do the DNA test through? i'm curious to do one myself. I've been looking on ancestry.com for stuff but you can only find so much.

CRACKA AZZ CRACKA

Dad and Grandfather came here, well Elis Island, about 103 years ago now, on the RMS Celtic. After a three weeks of sampling the hospitality of the Island, they caught a train to Oregon.
But I am not sure, am I a fully qualified Cracka?
