If you were in a marriage, would you (as a guy) be willing to be a stay at home dad while your wife brought home the bacon?

and....discuss....

This is America.

You need at least 2 above-average breadwinners just to afford healthcare, and those brats better find a job as soon as they can walk!

The only stay at home Dads in America wear ankle bracelets.

As somebody who travels for a living i would stay home in a heartbeat! Clean, cook whatever! I do agree with the above caller though that both parents need to work to live comfortably. Mrs "THE" stays at home and we manage. Don't get me wrong, I am compensated well, but if she worked too, we would be very comfortable. And as a freelancer, I take care of all the healthcare, no help from employers.

Do the Blazers not hire the tv production crew directly? Or do you just stay freelance so during the off-season you can work on other production jobs like with your golf channel thing?

Paul Allen is a teabagger who opposes universal healthcare.

They have an in house production crew. 3 of the 6 of us that travel are freelancers. It does allow us to work for other companies, so that is cool( like next week at the NBA all star game). But I receive no benefits.

I am one (stay at home) and work part time. She got on my case about things i wanted for my car or computer but i didn't bug her on what she bought which was daily clothes to wear.

She had a lack of sexy drive as we worked opposite schedules and just wanted to come home and watch tv shows for 2 hours and then she went to bed.

Probably another reason why this marriage failed and she blames that it was our fault that we didn't spend time away. I don't think she even cared about the relationship and just worked and spent time with the kids when she got home. I always took them to the park on nice days and once a month she would take them to the zoo. We never did family things at the park after she came home because she wanted to de-vegg and didn't want to deal with the kids. Even though I am with the kids for 12+ hours a day by myself.

Will you be working for TNT during that or will you be doing something closer to home?

Do the Blazers compensate for you for the hotel/meal expense on traveling days or do you have to take care of any of that?

The benefits thing must suck, especially since you've got a family. Of course the kids probably think your job is awesome since they get to meet some of the Blazers (gathering from that photo you had of them with Brandon, I am assuming those were your kids. Unless there's something you aren't telling us..)

So no ring if they win the 'ship?

I think I would have a hard time with it... but I could adjust.

Benefit part does suck! I will be down in Dallas for TNT. When I travel I'm with the team on the plane and hoteland they give us per-diem. It's a good deal. Any companies I work for pay for travel and hotel.

hell fucking yes.

i would get so much done

I'd be prone to saying I'd be willing to do it, if I was married and thats what we agreed to.

Of course, when I wasn't doing the 29 hours worth of work in the 24 hour day, I'd be trying to come up with projects to do to make a little side money.

Of course, that's much easier said than done.

As a man, I expect to be supported, taken care of, and treated like a Prince. Where else can she find knockers like these?

I don't mind it as long as I am appreciated at home, but in my case I'm just a roomate. Now I just need to find a female that cares about me and likes to have candles lit in the bedroom and dresses sexy for me once in a while. She was a bore.

She had that thing going with her boyfriend the whole time, so she feigned fatigue for you. Except initially, when you had 2 babies. There must have been a spark back then.

My mom doesn't have a job and she hasn't most of my parents' marriage. She raised me and my three brothers while my dad worked one job for the last 22 years. We live very comfortably with all the healthcare we could need.

That said, if I could be a stay at home dad in the future, I would do it in a heartbeat.

As a dad to a 1.5 year old... I can say that on days like today where I am the stay at home day (wife is working) it is about impossible to get anything done except when she is napping. She really can't be unsupervised for a minute. She can now get over baby gates and things like that (though she won't if you are watching) I always think it is going to be so great and then by the time my wife gets home I am going crazy. Just not wired for it.

I was told that I would be taken care of.

With my family's welfare on the line, I wouldn't put too much stock in that assurance.

Just ask all the Portland businesses Paul left hanging with his "bankruptcy" lol.

You and your family are very fortunate.

What does your father do for a living?

I would totally be a stay at home dad. In fact, I would love to have a job that allowed me to spend as much time as possible with my family (when I get one). I am not at all threatened by a woman who makes more money than me (as long as she buys me nice things!)

One of the reasons I am self employed is for this reason. I only get to have kids at home for a short time if you look at it in the long run, so I work at home 2x a week or so when the wife is working. I pick up the kids from school, etc. It's great. I think it would be hard to do full time, but being with them a lot is the best.

I would definitely love to stay home and take care of my son (and perhaps another child on the way, we'll see ;) ), but I know that will most likely never happen. I love my wife, but she has far less ambition than me. We're doing all right as it is, but I'm trying to get out of the service at the earliest possible date, so all those benefits are going to disappear until I finish college. My job is too irregular and demanding to let me go to school right now. Anyone know any place that's interested in someone fluent in Chinese in the Portland area?
