I was working outside of Flint last summer for about 10 days and this guy I was working with was fresh out of college and bragging about how he just bought a house. I was like DAMN, I didn't own my first house til I was 31! Then he told me he bought it for $11,000! It's like a 3rd world country over there. There was an article out awhile back talking about how there is no national chain grocery store in the city limits of Detroit! Are you fucking kidding me? They have to drive a half an hour out to the suburbs just to get groceries!

I guess we are blessed to live in such a great city!

I'm not jokin', you don't want to live there. Right in the middle of downtown Detroit are blocks and blocks of vacant lots and burnt down buildings. It's like a bigger, colder New Orleans!

I was talking about Detroit Oregon. I love Detroit Lake.

Shady shit! 3rd world country! To be honest, I think 8 mile is outside of town. Nothin' but trailers!

Did anyone watch that show "life after humans"? The show was about how human made structures would survive after humans died off. They'd show abandoned houses (or cities) as examples, and then could computer generate what it would look like 10, 50, 100, 1000 years later (and s on).

Those pictures look like they're from that show. That's depressing.

I did see that show! Very cool.

Sadly, the movie Robocop has turned prophetic.

Watch this shit!

Detroit may not be the most boring city (OKC wins this hands down) but it's overall the worst NBA city.

Has anyone seen Michael Moore's first documentary called Roger & Me? Not much has changed in that area since the 80's.

An oldie-but-goodie:

This is kinda becoming the ANTI All things Portland Thread isn't it? Sorry. but this is fascinating to me that in this day and age a major city in the USA can completely look like it would after the apocalypse!

Compare their train station to ours!

Watch this shit!

Yeah, that certainly was a lot of shit.

Yeah, it's all the fault of democrats and labor. If not for those things, Detroit would be a thriving city today. And look, here comes the tooth fairy!

Ya the message was pretty much BS, I just meant the images.

Such a shame you can't just pick up entire buildings and put them in cities that are worth a damn. You can tell that at one time that train station was a pretty impressive place--better than nearly any building here in Boise.

I blame the Pistons. Detroit was the jewel of the Great Lakes before the NBA Championship celebrations in the early 90s and in 2004 burnt that city to the ground. The Lions have cared enough about the city to have given them no reason for celebration.

So there are no humans left in Detroit? :dunno:
