How is this going to help national appeal? Fans of other teams already liked Mike and Mike. They aren't going to start following the Blazers because of one new commentator. That makes no sense. If they had a good reason for the firing, it should be shared. Until it is, it's fair to assume there isn't a good reason other than the bullshit one they gave which was essentially just that they wanted to make a change.

Their good reason is going another direction, and yes, Calabro is a much more of a national figure than M&M. Will it make a huge difference? Probably not, but its also probably only one portion of the bigger plan to elevate the Blazers on the national level.

Change happens. Its a fact of life. Those who oppose will forever be let down. Calabro will make the broadcasting better and that's really all that matters isnt it? as far as a reason? An improvement is an improvement and if you don't think we improved then your in the severe minority.

Myself and most people I know always choose the national broadcast over the local one just to not have to suffer through Mike & Mike's homer perspective and senile ramblings. They were good in the same sense as a worn out pair of slippers that no one wants to see you in in public. I imagine it's a pretty small group of people that won't have forgotten them by the second month of the season.
