Stern looking to help eliminate "mistakes" by teams

He could have started two years ago by calling Memphis out on their bullshit with Miles, or allowing the Blazers to pick up Miles from the waiver wire after Memphis dumped him.

So, can we revisit the 1984 draft and get Michael Jordan after all?

I say fuck the owners. If they sign the players to guaranteed deals, they have to live with them. But the contracts should not have to be guaranteed.

They should eliminate RFA status altogether and just make it UFA, so guys unhappy with the lack of guaranteed contract status can move to a team that might give them a better deal (sooner).

I hope it's not shorter contracts, but I would be pleased with less guaranteed money as the contract extends.

Why in the hell would Stern do this?

Part of the game is the aquisition of quality players (or lack there of).

If he is upset with the way some teams are run shouldn't he instead do something about the people running the show?

Giving teams an out will only encourage them to make even worse reaches with contracts knowing full well if it doesn't work out they can get out of it.

I propose the opposite.

Teams that give huge money to shit players have to pay a fine to the NBA for lowering the quality of the product on the floor thereby hurting the entire leagues bottom line.

I would call it the Kahn Rule or alternatively The Grizzlies Penalty.
