The Trail Blazers have hired Terry Stotts as head coach, The Oregonian has learned

I am honestly floored ... not excited mind you, but definitely floored.

Terry Stotts: “I’m very pleased to be a part of a great franchise in a beautiful city with such a proud history.”

I don't really get it. But, I'm not going to scream bloody murder about this because I think he's a stopgap anyways.

Stotts continued: "and I look forward to leading this team to the lottery for the next couple of years until I'm fired."

Kaleb isn't ready, Stotts has championship experience. Should be an interesting duo.

A retread who will be a willing Yes Man and give the youngsters playing time, but also has the game experience to not get completely out-coached at the end of games.

Not a bad hire. Not a good hire. It's a hire.

Learn something new everyday, Stotts is offensive minded:

Neil said:
"Terry is one of the elite offensive minds in the NBA, has extensive experience with multiple organizations and was instrumental in the Dallas Mavericks winning the 2011 NBA Championship, said Olshey. "He understands the vision for the future of the franchise, appreciates the process involved and will create an environment on the court that will produce championship habits."

So we had our sites set on the likes of, and offered future HOF'ers Phil Jackson and Jerry Sloan, and end up with Stotts.

Meh.

If you really believed they would come here, you set your self up for disappointment.

It was a farce to have Caleb in the running until the end, but it was a good face-saving move to allow him to move back to an assistant role.

I'd love to see Stotts bring an offense similar to the Mavs.

Not a bad hire at this time. Be interesting to see the offense he teaches the team. Hope it's a lot of movement without the ball.

GO BLAZERS!!

Of the available coaches, maybe Stotts just impressed them the most with his vision. Some of us have been wanting to present this search as a sham and maybe they actually just hired the candidate who seemed to be in the best position to lead the team.

Yeah, ok, but have they named the Junior Blazer Dancer team yet?

I agree with this.

Caleb would have been a very easy scapegoat for players to use when things go bad. This young group needs an experienced coach. Maybe when they all become stars, it will be Caleb's time.
