http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...espite-Al-Gore-s-prediction-ICE-FREE-now.html

The speech by former US Vice-President Al Gore was apocalyptic. ‘The North Polar ice cap is falling off a cliff,’ he said. ‘It could be completely gone in summer in as little as seven years. Seven years from now.’

Those comments came in 2007 as Mr Gore accepted the Nobel Peace Prize for his campaigning on climate change.

But seven years after his warning, The Mail on Sunday can reveal that, far from vanishing, the Arctic ice cap has expanded for the second year in succession – with a surge, depending on how you measure it, of between 43 and 63 per cent since 2012.

To put it another way, an area the size of Alaska, America’s biggest state, was open water two years ago, but is again now covered by ice.

Man, it's almost like the jet stream was way way north of normal during the El Nino, causing crazy droughts in North America and all the precipitation to fall on the polar regions.

Did ya read that link before you posted it Denny? It doesn't support your position. In fact, here's the conclusion:

So while some commentators prefer to rely on their intuition to form a view, the scientists travel to the world's most challenging environment to get answers.

I've lived in California for ~30 years and we've had cycles of drought and floods and wildfires forever. You can go see the ancient (millions of years ago) forest fires that struck the redwood forests at Muir Woods. Obviously man made global warming!

http://www.cfact.org/2013/12/28/ant...to-rescue-climate-researchers-trapped-in-ice/

A dramatic example caught the attention of the world Christmas morning, when a vessel hired by a group of global warming scientists radioed for help after becoming trapped in ice off Antarctica. The Russian m/v Akademik Shokalskiy has 74 researchers and crew aboard. They managed to celebrate Christmas despite their frozen predicament.

The Chinese ice breaker Snow Dragon steamed to the rescue and was last reported six nautical miles away, but has now found itself blocked by the ice. Its captain said, “the current ice conditions is eChris Turney climate scientist trapped in antarctic icexceeding our capability to break through further.”

Chris Turney, who is a professor of climate change at the University of New South Wales, is the leader of the expedition. He posted a video to YouTube optimistically predicting that Snow Dragon would reach his position within a few hours, but the ice breaker was forced to turn back.

Other vessels are headed to the scene and Snow Dragon is waiting and hoping that high winds will push aside some of the ten foot thick ice enabling it to reach the trapped researchers.

The waters around Antarctica experienced remarkable sea ice expansion in 2013 confounding the global warming ice narrative.

...

Hysterical claims about polar ice are a propaganda talking point aimed to keep the global warming narrative flowing, absent any… well, global warming.

I caught the spin, barfo. More ice means global warming. Melting ice means global warming. How can you tell if there's global cooling?

From the article:

The ACE CRC's report says that since 1979, the amount of sea ice coverage around Antarctica has been rising by about 285,0000 square kilometres every decade.

By contrast, the Arctic has been losing 1.8 million square kilometres per decade.

Yet, the OP article describes 1.7M square kilometers of new ice measured over the past two years. That's the Arctic, which alarmists claim is in big danger. Unlike the antarctic link that SPD posted.

Mr. Algore said there'd be no ice in the arctic at all by now.

None. Nada.

Typical of global warming predictions - not even close to reality.

Since lightning can cause forest fires, man cannot cause forest fires. Can't argue with that logic!

I can argue with your use of strawman logic. I didn't say man cannot cause forest fires. I'm glad we agree that man can cause forest fires. That's why we have smokey the bear to remind us not to set them.

I caught your spin there. What he said is that there 'could be', not that there 'would be'. At least according to what you posted in #1.

So then if you say inaccurate stuff, does that make all deniers incorrect?

His fears are unwarranted. The alarm is a false one. Not only is the ice still there, it's grown by 1.7 Km. It's not even close to gone.

Are you still scared it could be gone this year?

Algore really deserves a Nobel Prize for being so right.

Re: Stunning satellite images show summer ice cap is thicker and covers 1.7million sq

I have some questions about this, since it was tl;dr.

Is this new, permanent ice? In that it's thick and will actually stay?

Does it melt all away eventually?

Crucially, the ice is also thicker, and therefore more resilient to future melting. Professor Andrew Shepherd, of Leeds University, an expert in climate satellite monitoring, said yesterday: ‘It is clear from the measurements we have collected that the Arctic sea ice has experienced a significant recovery in thickness over the past year.

‘It seems that an unusually cool summer in 2013 allowed more ice to survive through to last winter. This means that the Arctic sea ice pack is thicker and stronger than usual, and this should be taken into account when making predictions of its future extent.’

Re: Stunning satellite images show summer ice cap is thicker and covers 1.7million sq

Great news, hopefully it keeps continuing.

Bad news, because I hope people don't start thinking we can just pollute anyways.

I did not read it carefully (nor did I read the actual scientific articles behind it) but it seems to be saying the ice on land is melting, that puts fresh water into the ocean. Fresh water freezes more easily that salt water, so you end up with the ice that melted off the land refreezing on the surface of the ocean.

It's a temporary thing tho - obviously ice on land is more stable.

well that's not good, I know we don't want to muck up the salinity of the ocean.

The true 97% consensus!

http://www.westernjournalism.com/global-warming-predictions-proven-wrong-97-4-time/

A new study by a “group of mean reactionary science purists” at the Journal Nature Climate Change took a look at 117 of the Left’s wild claims. Its results are devastating for Gore and the Left. They show that 114, or 97.4%, of them were wrong. They weren’t just a little “ooops, I hit the wrong number on my computer – wrong but wrong by a you – don’t – know what – in- the – world – you’re –are talking – about” wrong. The average “mistake” was an overstatement of global warming by double actual reality.

Hahahaha! Denny is so fucking happy right now that I posted in his thread. 2 days ago he created it and no one posted in it. You know he's been saving all of these links to counterattack anything that Barfo posted.

You're welcome Mr Crane!

The images are stunning. The denial is expected :)

Permanent?

Well it means I miss my chance to run the NorthWest Passage. It was open a couple years for the first time since the Vikings did it about 1200 years ago.
So permanent probably never has been an attribute of the Northern Ice Pack.

Come on, be honest, you were disappointed that no one posted in your thread. You just make 5 continuous posts you were so excited that there was some activity finally.

So you agree it's real, but it's only 1/2 as bad as the chicken littles say?

Okey doke.

What will the retort be when the ice doubles again? Uh oh, and one more time?

But I read it on the internet, it has to be 100% fact
