I like the idea of giving the option of a single three point shot instead of a pair of free throws during foul-for-possession situations. Imagine how THAT could change strategy!

I like the notion of being able to decline the FT's and take the ball out of bounds with 14 on the shot clock instead.

I'd alter the suggestion of any foul outside the 3pt line allows for a singe 3pt shot to be offering 3 FT's instead.

I'd also suggest that halfcourt or farther shots count for 4pts in the last 24 seconds of any quarter. That's some Globetrotter bs, but it'd be fun!

I have long advocated that intentional fouls off the ball in the final 2 minutes should allow the other team to pick anyone on the floor at the time of the foul to shoot the FT's.

Another idea of mine is to not allow a substitution for any other reason than the ball going out of play in the last 2 minutes. So no more offense/defense subs.

Or maybe the hockey sub rule where Home team gets to sub in last?

I like the idea of allowing teams to decline the FTs and keep possesion with a new shot clock. In some situations, I would allow them to take the FTs AND keep the ball.

IMHO, the 3-pt shot has damaged the game as we know it. Less emphasis is placed on picks & screens, medium range shooting and more on simple spacing and shooting the 3. I think that's the primary reason NBA all-star teams have been beaten in the last 8-10 years by Euro and other teams. Our talent level for various nuances of the game has eroded in place of shooting the 3.
