Giannis is just a 31 year old taller Deni without the passing. I wouldn’t give up the farm for him. His game is built strictly on athleticism which doesn’t usually work out great as they age.
while I tend to agree about the athletic thing, and I go back and forth on if the Blazers should go all-in on Giannis....
saying Giannis doesn't have Deni's '
passing' is completely false; not sure how you arrived at that
* Deni has averaged over 8
assists/100-possessions just once, this last season.
* Giannis has averaged over 8
assists/100-possessions for 8 straight seasons

assist rate over 20% just once, this last season
* Giannis has had a season
assist rate over 20% 5 times
* Deni's best assist rate (this season) was 32.2%
* Giannis best assist rate (also this season) was 38.7%. Giannis has beaten Deni's best 5 times
* assist/turnover (
career): Deni 1.73....Giannis 1.67
* assist/turnover (
this season): 1.74....Giannis 1.72
* assist-rate/turnover-rate (
career): Deni 1.22....Giannis 2.04
* assist-rate/turnover-rate (
this season): Deni 2.01....Giannis 2.93
Giannis is as able and as willing a passer as Deni; maybe more able & willing as he's proven it for a decade while Deni has shown it for one season. Personally, I think Giannis and Deni on the same team would be an awkward fit, at best. The experiment could easily fail. At the same time, about the only way that Portland could contend is if Giannis and Deni did develop synergy and learn how to compliment each other. It's a long shot; I'm jst not convinced it's a long shot worth taking
