Stay classy Duck fans! :devilwink:

SALEM, Ore. – A Sports Illustrated survey said Oregon Duck football fans are “number one in the Pac-10” at being rude to visiting fans.

Passionate? Yes. Obnoxious? Probably. But not rude, said a number of Duck fans Monday in response to the survey.

“We’re just really spirited,” said one Duck fan. “Some people might misinterpret that.”

“Everybody’s out to get us, because now if we win on the third of December, we’re going to Pasadena and that’s huge,” said Jack Kennett, a Duck fan.

Oregon’s rivals did help sway the vote, however.

Almost 83 percent of all Huskies voted Oregon fans the worst, followed by 67 percent of all voting Beavers. Additionally, roughly 59 percent of ballot-casting Cougars voted Duck fans the worst.

“It’s unfortunate we had the entire state of Washington vote against us,” said a University of Oregon student who identified himself as “Grim Duck”. “They’re just mad because they lost six years in a row to the number one program in the Northwest.”

After last weekend’s game at Arizona where fans threw water bottles and batteries at Duck players and cheerleaders, leaving one with a concussion, many Duck fans said they are in shock they’re the ones getting the bad rap.

“We don’t throw water bottles at people,” said one U of O student.

In response to the survey, the U of O’s Sports Information Director Dave Williford said, “Anybody who voted that way take a look at Tucson,” referring to the Arizona game.

On the campus of Oregon State, students there said they have a lot of respect for the Ducks but said Duck fans are still rude to them.

“I feel like they’re more cocky than we are because they have the prettiest jerseys,” said one Oregon State student.

“And they got a rich Daddy, too,” added another.

On a related note, several students on Oregon State’s campus said that the “Grim Reaper” Duck and a group of Duck fans were on Oregon State’s campus egging the Beavers on.

Let the games begin.

GO BEAVERS!

I've been attending Duck games for over 30 years and I've never seen anything approaching rudeness to other fans. A stupid little survey taken by jealouse people.

Taken by jealous people? What are they jealous of, rude fans? They surveyed all of the Pac-10 schools. So everyone in the Pac-10 is jealous of Oregon? If it was a jealousy factor, I think they might have voted for a school with a wee bit more recent success. Maybe they just feel the fans are rude? No, that can't be.

I've been to two Duck games at Autzen... non conference games against cup cake opponents... and wore a Beaver hat both times. I never talked any shit, clapped when the Ducks scored etc... yet I still had Duck fans flipping the hat off my head etc and being jackasses. I chose to ignore them, and I think that pissed them off even more. I've had several friends that have had similiar experiences at Autzen.
Jealous fans? Pac 10 fans are far more jealous of USC then U of O.

I often sit close to the visiting fans and I have NEVER seen an act of rudeness. I've attended well over 60 games. Want rude fans? Go up to a UW game. There's a frustrated group of human beings.

i dare you to dress in orange, not necessarily Beaver gear, and go to the civil war game. See how you're treated. You can still cheer your heart out for the ducks.

I'm sure some rudeness happens especially now as the bandwagon has filled up the last decade with front-running type fans. I'm also sure jealousy/bitterness factored in at least somewhat. Personally I've never seen a single incident from Duck fans that was out of line and I know several rival fans who raved about their trip to Eugene and how nice everyone was to them.

whatever...

I had a similar experience at Stanford recently. Every fanbase has it's idiots

Last year my boss took his 3 young sons to the civil war. They had duck jerseys on. After the game a drunk OSU fan started cursing at his kids. His kids. 100% unprovoked. I am sure this type of stuff happens at pretty much any college game.

Had a USC fan below us on Halloween.. and a couple of total Jackasses behind us who were Duck fans. Same with at the Purdue game, had a total JAckass and a classy Purdue fan (who was at least 2 times the size of the Duck fan and would have KILLED him) I ended up defending the other teams fans and telling our guys to shut the hell up. Its all good fun in bantering back and forth I have no problem with that... But some people take it so seriously when another person is rooting for another team (ie Beer Boys story about hats getting flipped off of him) which is pathetic. I dont care who another person roots for, it in NO WAY gives someone the right to be verbally abusive or so disrespectful to where someone would slap an article of clothing off of someone. I think there are classless fans in ever fan base. Oregon is well known as some of the rowdiest home fields in all of College, let alone the Pac 10.. unfortunately some of those instances come with it. Good fun trash talk is great, and part of the game.. but seriously to all fans.. dont take it to another level and be disrespectful like that. Its a game to be enjoyed by EVERYBODY, not just the home team fans.

Obviously you don;t get around. Ever go to a Fresno State game where fans routinely spit on opposing fans?

What does his paragraph show to imply he doesn't get around? And Fresno State isn't in the Pac-10, last I checked. So maybe they suck. Oh well. They also don't apply. Everyone's going to have their stories of an opposing fan being rude. Seems that as a whole, from this survey, though, the Oregon fans topped out as the rudest.

right, and I think this survey is suggesting that percentage of fan type is higher at Oregon.:dunno:

oh I know Fresno St is bad... I havent been there.. but I've heard. I am just saying that for all fans in general.

Cant believe I just repped a Duck fan! Excuse me while I go puke!

I have also heard that Fresno St. is bad news for opposing fans... just like the Oakland Raider fans.

I can attest that I got spit on 4 years ago by Ducks fans when I watched the civil war game there. Granted that's not all Ducks fans, but you UO people have some of the douche-iest douches who ever douched in your stands.

They douche in the stands? ewww.

Well, all you homer Beaver fans who jump around and mount each other when your team scores can kiss my hairy ***. Personally, I think all stadiums have fans who are rude and obnoxious. In my time I've heard pretty darn good things about UO fans. Now comes a little survey and all of a sudden we're friggin' morons.

I'm just not buying it as I've been around and it simply isn't true. Take the same survey next year with a different 15 people and you'll get a different result.

Don't get so defensive about a survey of fans. Damn. Maybe they see shit like this when they make their vote. "No we're not, no we're not, no we're not. Oh yeah, well fuck you if we are, you suck too."

I'm just having a good time dissing Beaver fans. Hey, it's the Civil War!

Just admit the partial love you have for the Ducks.. you will feel much better! ;)

and yes Fresno St I have heard is a baaaaaaaaaad place.. and that Pat Hill kind of condones that type of behavior. And also I can hate on the Raiders fans too, being a Broncos fan (:sigh:)

Also the show that the Zona fans put on after the game was a disgusting sight.. your team lost fair and square, have some class about it.

I was just talking with a long time Duck fan and he was sharing that the last 3 civil wars in Corvallis, he and his vehicle were assaulted by beaver fans. Each time the police had to come and make arrests. He's well into his 70's so he could not defend himself. A couple of those times they kicked his car so badly it had a few thousand dollars of damage. I, too have had problems at Corvallis.

Going to reeser stadium is like the movie Deliverance.

If by Deliverance you mean the part where they get out of there at the end and make it to the promised land, then yes.

If you mean the banjo playing part, I invite you to tour a little town called Creswell...a UofO suburb.

And anyone who has ever been to a game at Husky Stadium knows Duck fans are nowhere near as classless as those purple and yellow assclowns.
