Finally, a random moment from the clubhouse: Shawn Kelley has a small but effective Bluetooth-enabled speaker system next to his locker. This morning, he and David Phelps were in a musical discussion with Meredith Marakovits, which led to Phelps getting on his phone, pulling up Spotify — or something like Spotify — and playing several Michael Bolton songs while Kelley made specific requests for Bolton’s greatest hits. It was both brutal and extremely funny. When Dave Robertson walked in the clubhouse, Phelps changed the song to Sweet Home Alabama. The closer had arrived, to his very own entrance music. Hilarious.

From LoHud Yankees.

OK folks, time for a new closer entrance song. Suggestions?

I'd say George Thougoods "Bad to the bone" but with a song like that you've REALLY got to be able to back it up.

Didn't Eck and Goose use that song?

I like Danzig - Mother....but as 59's board entrance song. It should play when he logs on. lol!

Has anyone ever used Queen, we will rock you?

Yeah you may be right about the bad to the bone song, I do recall someone else using it. We will rock you is over used.

Here's a thought, I don't know if anyone follows wrestling but Stone cold Steve Austin had an entrance song that started with the sound of broken glass. I always liked it but I had no idea who did it.

No, not a big wrestling fan anymore, lol!

I was looking over some of my playlists that my wife dubbed my "Anger Mgmt Collection". Mostly driving tunes when I take my 370Z out to attack some winding mtn/desert roads, or for leg day at the gym. Drowning Pool, Staind, Godsmack, Rammstein, Linkin Park, Pappa Roach, Chevelle, etc. A newer addition was Avenged Sevenfold...Hail to the King.

For full disclosure the is also my 3Gun / zombie hunting playlist.

...the ultimate closer entrance song...this guy definitely has "the gene".

I actually liked his songs BUT........he's the reason that black guys say white guys can't dance.

Or shit, is this where we cue in the moron ricky-speal to say I'm being racist?

Rick you'll like the video, has a wrestling theme.

I like that but the problem with the wrestling themes for Robertson is that they're both bad ass sounds & Robertson's look just doesn't pull that off. I mean that would be like trying to convince people that Justin Beeper is an ass kicking thug.

This is kinda the point of a kiuckass song, its to get the pitcher and home crowd pumped up. None of these guys look that scary IMO, but what they throw, that's where the impact is. This is why they nixed Mo's christian rock, Kumbayah on an electric guitar wasn't gonna cut it.

With my best FONZ impression....................................................."I knew that".

Did you just reference the Fonz? Holy 70's shit. What's next, is 59 gonna call someone a meathead?

you guys are just baiting ricky-speial to come over for more amo to take back to the reddit board.

The thing that made Archie Bunker's ignorance so amusing was that he was an equal opportunity bigot. He tore into E V E R Y B O D Y.

Actually that show is Still a metaphor for society today. The norm for one generation is generally in dynamic tension with the successive generation. Now some think the poles were their widest in the 70's, but 40 years later divide is still pretty stark....without going into specifics.

It was expected that the Archie Bunker character would be reviled, instead he was loved. You see scenarios like this play out in forums all the time. You have the listen and know the intent before reacting and getting offended. Mike's character did that pretty well.

So back on topic....

Maybe we're thinking about this 'closer theme music' thing all wrong. What if the Yankees say....we already licensed Enter Sandman, the fans love it, let's keep using that. Maybe even evoke the memory of Mo. I mean opposing hitters have heard that song for years, with the thought of a bat breaking in their hands on a cutter. Maybe use that as a bridge for DRob. Thoughts? Would that be an insult to Mo? Would fans accept this?

Mike handled it so well because he not only considered the source but also managed to find the humor in the over the top statements. The sad part is that we've seems to have fallen back instead of moved forward.

how about "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" - just kidding, I couldn't help myself, but you got me thinking. Robertson needs a killer intro tune. A powerful lighting bolt of a song. Next we got to trade for Aroldis Chapman, give Robertson his set up role back. Wait, I've already mentioned the Reds Closer.
