Talk about a lack of ways to begin a sentence.

I love Mark Jackson. Seriously. I wish he and Ian could call every single thing I ever watch/listen to that even remotely requires a call.

With that being said, dude... find a new way to start a sentence.

I can't be the only one who notices he starts 85% of everything he says with the words "talk about."

Or am I?

As in: "Talk about shot blocking, and you gotta mention Sean Williams." Or: "Talk about guys coming off the bench and knocking down their shots, and you gotta mention Boki Nachbar." Or: "Talk about a 39 year old guy bringing energy and playing pressure defense whose first name is Darrell and last name rhymes with Schmarmstrong, and you gotta mention Darrell Armstrong."

It wouldn't be so bad if Ian was going on and on about one of those subjects 30 seconds earlier, but it rarely works out like that. It's just random and out of no where.

The funny thing I noticed about Mark Jackson is that he tries to make himself look intelligent by asking and answering his own question.

Like during one game, Collins took a charge in the closing seconds which helped secure the game for the Nets.

You hear the following from Action Jackson : "Well some people sitting at home are asking why is Collins in the game?" -- and he goes to say something along these lines "Because Collins great defensive presence blah....". Well you get the point.

Nonetheless, I enjoy when Ian and Mark team up. It's just not the same when you have Marv Albert or Jim Spanarkel (sp?) taking one their places.

This makes me reminisce of KMart's post-game interviews - someone help me out here, I can't remember exactly what he said...something along the lines of "you know what I mean?" every ten seconds.

Yeah, I know...Demetris Nichols had the same problem, I believe.

I think Ian and Spanarkle are excellent together.

I'm not a big Mark Jackson fan - I think 40-50% of what he says is either really obvious or just incorrect. Ian definitely brings out the best in him, though.

He adds the color commentary in traditional pairs. I think he does an excellent job at that.
