There has to be an alternative motive at work here. This is just too illogical to be other than nefarious.
Are the Dems doing this sort of thing in other States? A plan to make the current system so painful
to make the peons cry for single payer? Rather like Obama taxing employers providing retirement health care.

What??

"The legislation, which now goes to the Senate, includes a tax increase on hospitals and new taxes on health insurance plans. Gov. Kate Brown supports the bill, and said last week it's among her three top priorities for lawmakers to approve before going home by July 10."

Those shameful self insuring corporations!

"Rep. Julie Parrish, R-West Linn, said the new 1.5 percent tax on health plans including those for some state employees would contribute to higher university tuition and K-12 education costs. "It is just shameful who we're asking to pick up the tab, while large corporate interests don't have to pay their fair share," Parrish said, referring to self-insured companies that she said would not pay the tax."

Notice the shape shifting? First it's Medicaid, then another forgets the talking points and it's for Higher education???

Geez! I find Progressivism to be a despicable disease!

Democrats never met a tax they didn't like. It's as if they believe that the American People have bottomless pockets of money.

It's a combination of poor writing and poor reading.

What she's actually saying, I believe, is that the healthcare tax will increase education costs (because the schools will have to pay the tax). She's not saying the healthcare tax will go to schools. It's exactly the opposite.

Also, note the R after her name? That stands for Regressive, not Progressive.
