Teenage girl commits suicide over fear of Large Hadron Collider

Damn, this is some sadness. Chayya, a 16-year old Indian girl from Madhya Pradesh, drank pesticide and killed herself over fear of the Large Hadron Collider going online and destroying the earth. I send my deepest sympathies to Chayya's family and pray, for the sake of my own soul, that she never read Geekologie.

I read this in the newspaper, today. Quite sad.

I have no proof but it seems likely.

Logic doesn't follow here, one shouldn't kill themselves to avoid the possibility of being killed anyway.

If you took Lorena Bobbit home one night not knowing who she was and found out in the middle of some fun who she was, would you cut it off yourself to make sure she couldn't?

I wouldn't.

I am thinking a black hole would be cooler than drinking pesticide. Especially considering that if the scientists aren't sure what would happen why should she be so sure?

Would you see a black hole coming?

Could you shoot yourself in the head before it got you?

These are all things I can joke about but I think the girl was likely mentally disturbed.

Remember the cute teenage girl who killed herself over some myspace thing where other girls and one of their moms tormented her? (or something to that effect)

What those people did was likely only the small nudge that an unstable girl needed to act upon thoughts of suicide. Same with this girl in my untrained opinion.

I'm picturing everything on earth being sucked into a tiny place. I'd probably be pretty painful on the way over. Plus it's not like you hit the black hole and POOF you're dead, you've got to be ripped to shreds / smushed into nothingness. No thanks.

yeah, but you couldn't stop it once you had started dying. You might suffer for a while.

With pesticide you might call 911 and then get to the hospital and suffer while they try to save you. You could end up all rebuilt inside like one guy I saw on the internet who had his whole insides jacked up. Not cool.

So pesticide is better because you could still live.

edit: wait, rebuilt? So worst case scenario is you're a cyborg? Badass.

Not that badass, rebuilt as in his mouth is connected to his ass by some sort of piece of intestine they put outside of his ribcage. Or something to that effect.
