Event Teens laugh and film as man drowns

Someone who films and laughs at someone who is dying should be shot as far as I'm concerned. They won't face charges because there is no law against it, but people like that shouldn't even be here on earth. I hope there is a hell they can go to.

I bet they do face charges.

That's horrible. These worthless little scum kids should be punished. How about take them to a large lake and drop them off in the middle of it and see if they can make it to the shore. Let them see what this guy was going thru.

Morally wrong. Sure. But, people are not typically legally obligated to take action to rescue others. So who's going to punish them?

Those sick bastards. Not only did they film the dude drowning, but they laughed at him and mocked him, telling him was going to die and they werent going to help. What the fuck are parents teaching their kids these days. Those punks will get theirs. Karma is a bitch best served cold. Even if there is no law about being a good samiritan, is there too no law regarding failing to report an accident or death? There has to be something to get these scumbags on. There shouldn't have to be a good samiritan law. People should help people. Is there no morality anymore?

Helping someone who is drowning can be dangerous.

The best thing you can do is try to throw something to them. Trying to swim out and save them though can get you killed.

This is true. My aunt lost her boyfriend when he went in a lake in Alaska to save his dad. Both ended up drowning and somehow his eight year old daughter and the dog made it back to shore safely.

This, however, doesn't excuse them from filming it and doing what they did.

It's all about how you approach a drowning person. You need to do it from behind.

The least you could do if you are not a good swimmer and cannot swimout to save the person who is drowning is call 911...call out for help. Throw a rope out to him....pull him in....there are many things that can be done.

Yep grab the drowing person around the waist if possible or under the arms and tow them back to shore . A mistake a lot of people make is having the drowning person grab onto them.

True, no one is blaming them for not swimming out to help them. It's mocking him and filming it.

You may have seen the recent story where beachgoers formed a human chain to rescue a family caught in a riptide.

Thats what i'm talking about. There was no law saying they had to form a human chain out into the ocean to save that family. They just did anyway.

I wouldn't be suprised to find that they threw him in there before turning the camera on, or told him they would give him money to go in. I would be investigating how that man ended up in that pond if I were the investigator on that case.

They were just trying to get close enough to taunt and film them.

There are countless worse ways to go out than trying to save someone else.

Five teenagers who taunted a drowning man while recording his death from afar may face criminal charges, a Florida police chief said Friday.

Cocoa Police Chief Michael Cantaloupe said Friday he will recommend the state attorney prosecute the teens under a statute that requires a person with knowledge of a death to notify a medical examiner. The state attorney will decide whether to file the charges, which would be a misdemeanor under that statute.
The chief's statement was a shift.
Authorities previously said the teens wouldn't be charged because Florida does not have a law that obligates a citizen to render aid or call for help for anyone in distress.
On Friday, the office of State Attorney Phil Archer issued a statement, though not in response to the chief's comments about recommending charges.
"We were asked to make a preliminary review of the video regarding any potential charges for failure to provide aid," the state attorney's office said. "Unfortunately, there is currently no statute in Florida law that compels an individual to render, request or seek aid for a person in distress. We are, however, continuing to research whether any other statute may apply to the facts of this case."

I'm not surprised at all. I see the degradation of human compassion on a daily basis....
Disgusting asall hell. But common.
Remember dude who stole dead mans bag on the max?
It's not just about clicks and likes. It's about becoming more and more disconnected from thy neighbor because of technology. We don't help each other build fences anymore.
It's all selfish motivation to be the coolest richest kid on the block. Anything else doesn't deserve a thought or feeling of emotion.
Fucking evil robot society we are becoming.

Maybe if we could find a hitman that does pro bono work? . . .
