New Delhi — At least 20 tourists were killed and many others injured Tuesday when suspected militants opened fire on civilians in Indian-controlled Kashmir, according to reports on Indian and international media. Many outlets, including the French news agency AFP, cited unnamed security officials who put the death toll as high as 24, but there was no immediate confirmation on casualties from authorities.

Two senior police officers, who also spoke on condition of anonymity, told the Associated Press at least 20 bodies had been recovered after multiple gunmen fired at dozens of tourists from close range Tuesday. The officers said at least three dozen others were injured, with many in serious condition...

IMO this is where the highest chance of nuclear war happening in the world.

If Pakistan and India launch nukes at each other China will immediately invade Russia. Why? Because India, Pakistan, and China all get a huge amount of their water from the Himalayan Mountains. Water, not oil, is what the world will go to war over.

India Warned of 'Act of War' By Pakistan As Relations Collapse

Pakistan warned India on Thursday that it was committing an "act of war" by suspending a landmark water-sharing treaty in response to a deadly terror attack in Indian-controlled Kashmir.

...

Parts of the disputed Kashmir region are administered by both India and Pakistan, but they both claim control of the area in its entirety. The two nuclear armed neighbors have fought over the territory since 1947, with the birth of India and Pakistan as independent states.

On Tuesday, the Resistance Front (TRF)—an offshoot of Pakistan's Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist organization—claimed responsibility for the attack, accusing the tourists of attempting to 'settle illegally'."

Pakistan has denied any links to Tuesday's attack, and India hasn't publicly released any evidence that proves its neighbor conducted it.

...

Pakistan on Thursday also announced the closure of its airspace to India; suspended all trade with the country; suspended with immediate effect all visas issued to Indian nationals under an exemption scheme; reduced to 30 the number of diplomats in the Indian High Commission in Islamabad; and asked Indian defense, naval and air advisers to leave Pakistan before April 30.

India's attempts to link the attack with Pakistan are "frivolous, devoid of rationality and defeat logic," Islamabad said, describing India's sweeping diplomatic measures as "unilateral, unjust, politically motivated, extremely irresponsible and devoid of legal merit."

On Wednesday, India's Defense Minister Rajnath Singh pledged "not only trace those who perpetrated the attack but also trace those who conspired to commit this nefarious act on our soil" as he hinted at military strikes.

Water Treaty Suspended
India said it would suspend the landmark Indus Waters Treaty—a decades-old water-sharing agreement that has endured two wars and a major border conflict in 1999. Brokered by the World Bank in 1960, the treaty has allowed the two countries to share the waters of river system, and is vital for agriculture.

Pakistan's National Security Committee said any attempt suspend the treaty "will be considered as an Act of War."

Pakistan is an Islamic country primarily and India Hindu. Which religion has a more convincing reputation when it comes to Terror?

Both countries commit massive human rights violations against their own citizens. Not sure picking which religion is better is the right move here.
Not saying one is better only that one has been more active in terrorism throughout. Thats how they get the prize winning the world completely over to Islam. Im sure India does have their own issues but Hindu seems to have more peaceful, non aggressive doctrine.

That is Buddhist.
It is a Buddhist chant I believe in Tibetan.(correction, I assumed wrong, it's Japanese) If I'm not mistaken the only remaining traditional Buddhist country is Thailand today...India has Sikhs, Muslims speaking Urdu and a Hindu majority...Kashmir has many Sikhs and Muslims

I know… when I was 20 in the East Bay neighbor gal told me if I chanted that it could make my desires happen. Every time Id see her she chanted that and I would tell her I wanted pencils.

My friends who live nearby are Buddhist, or to be precise "queer vegan Buddhists".

Couldn’t prove it by me, but according to Google AI:

"Namu Myōhō Renge Kyō" (南無妙法蓮華経) is a Japanese phrase chanted in Nichiren Buddhism. It translates to "Devotion to the Mystic Dharma of the Lotus Sutra" or "Homage to the Sublime Dharma of the Lotus Sutra". It's essentially a title of the Lotus Sutra, but also a mantra used for connecting with one's inner Buddha nature and manifesting it.
Here's a more detailed explanation:
  • Meaning:
The phrase "Namu Myōhō Renge Kyō" literally means "I take refuge in the teachings of the Lotus Sutra".
  • Purpose:
Chanting this mantra is a central practice in Nichiren Buddhism. It's believed to awaken one's inherent Buddha nature and transform suffering.
  • Significance:
It's considered a way to align one's life with the "Mystic Law" and manifest the potential for wisdom, compassion, and courage.

Cool. I always thought it was a Tibetan chant. "Ren" in Mandarin Chinese means person or human.

First thing they do, rape all the women.

Sounds exactly like what Hamas did.

As if this doesn't have the fingerprints of the U.S. and Israel all over it...

I don't see that at all, it's an old feud between Pakistan and India over water rights...the only thing I can see Israel or the US or Iran doing is selling them all weapons but India shut off the water to begin with and they definitely aren't guided by the West or Middle East. I'm sure we all have covert spies there but India has it's own agenda. From what I've read, India sparked this uprising over water for farmers. Doesn't help that they don't like each other much to begin with.

Question is: why now?
