Well, as I recall, Rick Adleman was plucked from a local junior college to join the Blazer staff so even though it's a step down, maybe he just has coaching in his blood.

I guess it would be one thing if he were the head coach, but "joining the coaching staff" of a junior college is a long way from the NBA...although isn't he still getting paid from PHX?

I don't know if he's getting paid by the Suns or not. As to L&C, maybe he's an advisor or just helping out a bit as he may be bored.

Not to nit pick but L&C is not a junior college.

I realize that, but in the basketball sense, it is definitely not a high level college position.

Alright. I agree, it is very surprising. You'd think he could "join the staff" of a D1 college.

Porter didn't pursue another NBA position because of the travel and time requirements. Coaching Lewis & Clark, or helping them out, or whatever lets him keep a foot in the sport without a long season or long travel.

Maybe he feels he has something to give guys who have no dreams of playing in the NBA. Wisconsin-Stevens Point was a small school and I'm sure no players were recruited there with dreams of playing in the NBA.
