With 3 mins left they're talking about managing the human element of a team beyond the analytic numbers and how SVG would give Dwight Howard touches to keep him engaged on the defensive end.

Terry said from a points per possession dynamic it wasn't best to feed LaMarcus the ball; but they did it to keep him engaged with the team. Interesting tidbit and sort of a suttle rip on LaMarcus only trying hard when he got his touches.

Listening to Terry wax poetic about efficiency and things like Reb % is so refreshing.

Yeah it was interesting. I've often thought how easy it is to see numbers of how a player is playing poorly. But how do you translate that to instructions a player can use to improve their play on the floor?

Stotts talked about how they like to see how often an opponent goes a direction successfully so we know to defend him. Or instead of how many steals a team how many steals they get compared to other teams in the league.

Stotts has a very keen basketball and managerial mind.

Yeah I listened to most of it. The middle half of the interview was a bunch of talk about CBA and non Blazer times. I'd be interested in reading a transcript; would probably have to relisten to write it very well. It's a lot better than courtside or most the Blazers shows. Suggest putting ipod or whatever listen in car or something.

This was really good but Woj suddenly throwing in advertisements was a little odd.

Woj: Has this team surprised you? Did you think you were capable of this?

Terry: We never put a number on it. If you asked where we would be after 60 games I would have said anything, I didn't want to put a number on it.

Woj: Do you feel like a lot of them have a chip on their shoulder?

Terry: Yeah, they all do have a lot to prove. A lot of the guys still have upside (Davis, Aminu) even though they have been in the league for years.

Stotts says that LaMarcus is not Dirk, and he tries to avoid those comparisons.
