The Texas Legends will face the Tulsa 66ers in the first round of the 2011 D-League Playoffs, it was announced today by the League Office.

The Legends clinched the final playoffs spot last night following a thrilling double overtime victory against the hosting Austin Toros.

Round One of the playoffs, sponsored by Industry Petroleum, will begin with the first game of the best-of-three series this Wednesday, April 6, in Frisco, Texas, at 7 p.m. at HP Court inside Dr. Pepper Arena. Tulsa will host game two on Friday, April 8, at 7 p.m. inside the Tulsa Convention Center. If necessary, game three will be played Sunday, April 10, in Tulsa at 7 p.m.

Eighth-seeded Texas, who finished the 2010-11 season with a 24-26 overall record, tallied a 3-5 mark against Tulsa this season. The fourth-seeded 66ers finished with a 33-17 overall record. Texas enters the postseason winners of four of their last five games, including a 20-point victory in Tulsa two weeks ago.

The top three playoff seeds (Iowa Energy, Reno Bighorns and Rio Grande Valley Vipers) had the opportunity to choose their opponent in the first round from seeds five through eight. However, all three teams decided to pass on the Legends leaving Texas to match up with Tulsa.

Other playoff matchups include the top-seed Iowa Energy against seventh-seeded Utah Flash, the second-seed Reno Bighorns against the fifth-seeded Erie BayHawks and the third-seed Rio Grande Valley Vipers against the sixth-seeded Bakersfield Jam.

The winner of the Legeneds-66ers series will take on the winner of Iowa and Utah in Round Two.

While the Legends are making their first postseason appearance, it marks the second consecutive season the 66ers have earned a trip to the playoffs. Last season, Tulsa reached the D-League finals against Rio Grande Valley and fell two games to none.
