I guess perhaps Rudy needs to start at the 3, or even bring Outlaw back, but Batum is lost right now.
He's a role player at this point and is a net negative on the floor.

He has 5 points and 8 rebound TOTAL over the last 6 games.

Why is he still starting?

Agreed. The only problem is that means starting TO, who's not exactly setting the world on fire himself.

I'm still holding out hope for a trade so we can have a legit starting SF. Then again I say that every year and we are still stuck with the same group of low IQ swingmen at the position.

batum is far from low IQ

Because the first team runs best when he's playing with them. He makes other players better.

Subjective. The numbers don't show this over the last week and a half.

Batum is regressing, and he may even be impacting Oden's growth with his poor play.

I don't know... I think we might just have to wait another four weeks for Martell. I can't see us trading anyone right now, or I can't see KP panicking and making a trade.

do you honestly think batum has a low b-ball IQ? travis outlaw does, if you cant see the difference between batum and outlaw, i'm not sure what your watching

Batum is not deserving of any PT based on his recent play. I forgot to mention his 20% FG shooting from both 2 and 3 over this stretch.

I'm just saying that the "basketball IQ" line of reasoning is subjective.

Can I also say that Batum sucks ass recently in real world terms?

I very much want Batum to become the long-term starter for the team.
But.... he's not ready now. Webster's 2nd injury starting to hurt the team.

*edited: No personal attacks*. why are you attacking a player?:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Heh. I got nasty-grams from the mods for this. I imagine you won't see the same.

Our SF rotation flat out sucks right now.

Batum was playing solid basketball, but he's hit that rookie wall pretty severely.

Travis.... well, KP needs to find a legit starting SF. It's that simple.

Shows how idiotic the +/- stat is on a game by game basis.

Besides, I was posting about the last six games. The games where Batum has 5 points total and 8 rebounds.

I think he'll become a good player, but he is hurting the team right now with his play.

Maybe it's time to start the game with Roy at the 3 and Bayless at the 2. We lose some rebounding and defense against big small-forwards - but we improve PG defense and taking the ball hard to the rim.

Well, seriously, if they are going to throw in a guy who had trouble playing in France, why not throw in a guy who dominated the Pac 10 offensively? Good point.

why does everyone think bayless is automatically the answer? obviously he hasn't proven himself to nate and the rest of the coaches or he'd be playing. this kid has a long ways to go before he's ready to start.

as for batum, he's struggling, no doubt about it. he'll find his way out of it, sadly for the starting unit there is no one else to start right now. you want to put outlaw in there? i sure as hell don't. if you put rudy in there what does that do to the second unit?

Why does everyone think Batum is the answer? He may be the worst starting SF in the NBA right now, which is amazing considering the start this team has. I don't fault Batum for this, but he is not ready at this point in time.

Who's the other option? Outlaw was almost as bad, and Rudy got 30 minutes tonight. It's not like Batum is taking away time from other players (except Bayless, but then you'd be real small) and he'll snap out of this slump eventually.

Outlaw didn't get to play with Oden. I almost wonder if Batum's lack of offense is hindering Oden at this point.

I actually love Batum - but I think that Nate is really being pressed to play Sergio to let him "prove himself" or "help Rudy" - but the truth of the matter is that I am not sure Rudy really needs help anymore. He can already talk the language - and he needs to handle the ball more - so putting him next to Bayless and make him take some of the offense creation duties is not bad. If we must have Sergio to help Rudy there - let's try Bayless - we can not ride Roy all night every night to be the only one that can attack the rim from the dribble. He will fall over exhausted sooner or later.

subjective. also, wrong.

Nicolas Batum averaged 3.4 points (65.9% FG), 2.5 rebounds, 0.5 assist per game in 13 minutes for the 2006-2007 season[6], and 12.3 points (52.3%), 5.0 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game in 28 minutes for the 2007-2008 season[7]

He wasn't exactly the Michael Jordan of the French League. Will he be productive? Sure. Is he worthy of being a starter right now? No way in heck.

who called him mj? he fits perfectly with our starters. i think he is worthy. players go through slumps, just like aldridge did.

One less player to account for on the offensive end. I guess we'll see the end of Batum starting soon enough.

I like his future, but I don't like him being a starter right now.
