To take that next step this team has to get something out of this bench.

7 pts (2-14 fg)

The rotations are shorter but the starters were pushing 50min.

They had more TOs than points. I really think Barton should get some minutes, he is long and plays the passing lanes well.

We saw Bad Mo tonight. We'll see Good Mo next game.

Robinson showed a lot. He was pressing a bit, but if he sinks a few of those putbacks, he would have finished with a solid line.

He could make a huge impact. We got basically nothing from him tonight. We need more from Wright.

Wright pulled DHo away from the paint, and that opened Lillard up for a drive, which Patrick Beverly I believe fouled out on, and also injured himself. So Dorrell Wright has that going for him.

Wright played some great defense and got a couple of game changing rebounds and stops. The role players played defense all night, between LA and Dame, 77pts, the other guys kept Houstons shooters from going off.

Claver could do the same thing. At this point I would play Claver over Wright.

Somebody is going to have to step up. I don't think we can count on 45+ from LMA and 30+ from Lillard the rest of the way. On the bright side, the bench couldn't have contributed much less, so there's nowhere to go but up.

Claver isn't as serious a threat from the 3, plus DHo probably knows Wright is a 3 point threat, and doesn't know Claver's name.

Wright isn't a serious threat from three either. 0-2 from deep last night.

Mo will have a huge game for us at some point. And we'll need him to.
Robinson is going to do just fine.
Would like to see Barton over Wright. Barton could rattle off 6-8 points quickly, and be disruptive on defense.

I know T-Rob wants to show his old team up, but damn, we need to keep him away from the Red Bull. He was way too jacked up.

Some stats that we aren't seeing at the +/-

T. Rob was a +11 everyone else were negatives. The thing I'm not worried about is mo. I think he will only be better the next few games. I have hardly any hope for D Wright offensively... Anytime I see a shot leave his hands, I'm hoping freeland, lopez or Aldrigge is in position for the offensive rebound. Honestly, we need 3 solid bench players. I think T. Rob is our energy guy, Mo is our offense and Freeland is the defender.

Bottom line, I don't think we win any more games with bench production like we had in Game One.

I look at it this way, our bench probably played it's worst game (or top 3) of the year (scoring wise and that needs to be said as other contributions were okay) and we still won a playoff game. We will see better bench performance in this series "scoring wise"

frankly I'd rather see Trob/Freeland/Barton than Wright given the inconsistency of his outside shot and rather low shooting percentages

even with that to me he was still a "positive" contributor

Only time we got outplayed was when Wright was on the floor, by 10 pts.

I actually have more confidence in Claver shooting the ball than Wright at this point. Claver just hasn't gotten the minutes and doesn't shoot much. He's a solid contributor though, like Freeland.

However, it's not how Wright actually shoots the ball, it's how Houston thinks Wright shoots the ball. He has a long track record of burning people from three and that respect pulls out a big man.

What's the deal with Wright anyhow? He's been such a deadly shooter throughout his career and the minute he becomes a Blazer, he can't hit the ocean with a tennis ball. It seriously baffles me!

Thank you, that was my whole point. But I suppose if say DHo left Claver wide open and burned him with a Three, that would be great. But would Damian have the poise to reflect on it in time and kick it out past DHo? Having DHo never cheat is much safer for us.

doubt that, I think Houston knows his lousy shooting percentages this year

Yes, that's true. But aside from playing decoy on a single (albeit BIG) play, Wright was crap. So, if all you need is a decoy play Wright. But for all the other minutes play Barton or Claver.

I probably would have too, Claver may be the best defender off the bench. Still Wright had some hustle plays that turned into runs last night and without scoring he did some good things. He missed both his shots but not long ago he hit a game winner in clutch time. I think he gets trashed too often and is actually a good bench player.
