Opposing defenders focused solely on the crafty guard because his teammates weren’t very threatening on the perimeter, making those unassisted buckets even tougher to come by.

First and foremost, if Stotts staggers the starting backcourt, Simons has McCollum playing alongside him. Both guards can open up opportunities for one another and share the role of distributor. Filling the lineup out with two shooters and a big man capable of running pick and rolls allows Portland to use the starters’ offense with the reserves. Offensive continuity for any five-man iteration benefits a roster filled with new and young faces.

If Stotts doesn’t stagger Lillard and McCollum, another way to relieve pressure on Simons is to pair him with Pau Gasol and Mario Hezonja. Both have experience as facilitators and can give the 20-year-old better looks or a few possessions off....(CONTINUED)

Blazers edge has improved content-wise at least...it used to be...ask Dave a question and applaud his answer or you don't exist there...I'll read a link to an editorial there if I'm on yahoo sports ..same with comcastnw...a headline in a sports section will get me there but I don't ever bookmark or frequent their forums
